Winter Transfer Window Scouting Thread 23/24

Another RW to keep an eye on but seems to be the right kind of profile for us and is doing well.

Abdul Fatawu at Leicester. He is on loan from Sporting for the season and is a 19 year old Portuguese winger.

So far he has 2 goals and 3 assists in 10 starts (6 sub apps) but he looks a really explosive young player.

Yeah I saw this lad play a few weeks back and was seriously impressed with him. Don’t know a lot about him but from the one time I’ve seen him he immediately stood out as an incredibly impressive young player and was skipping past players almost every time he got the ball.

I would use Deki in midfield, honestly think he looks much better there.

Johnson looks like he could develop to play on both flanks.

So a quality RW and LW would give us 4 options out wide:
New LW/Solomon
Bakayoko/Johnson

With Johnson also capable on the left, so Solomon would probably be more of a 5th choice (which is fine if we get in to europe).

Of course there might be certain games where we want to push Deki out wide but with the way we play I really think pace and dribbling ability out wide on both flanks is key to raising our ceiling as a team.

All good points but playing Kulu as an 8 won’t happen when Maddison is fit so I’d include Kulu in the winger options primarily, hence no need for another RW imo, a LW or striker would be better or I suppose another one like Johnson who can play on both and up front too.

We need an effective goalscorer.

So many games we played recently we should have won the game before half time with the chances we created and dominating the game. I genuinely believe if we had Kane still here he would have scored the goals, whereas right now we are largely dependent on Son to either score or make the assist.

There are things I like about Kulusevski, Richy and Johnson, but none fill me with confidence that they're going to take their chances to put the ball in the net. We need an elite finisher in one of the 3 forward positions to play alongside Son.

Adding just a single top tier 1v1 specialist to our winger stable would make a huge difference in our attack and how defenses have to prepare for us.

Outside of a backup RCB that's the spot I want to see strengthened this window. Davies has been serviceable enough as backup LCB that I'd wait until summer to fill that.

As a priority LWF makes more sense to me. Think Johnson can do very well on the right. Come the end of the season he’ll have locked that position down.

Unless Solomon is going to be that player, he does dribble with the ball, but not 100% sure how good he is taking on his man.

CB, Striker and then LWF or any upgrade on squad players would be a good window again I think

I think Solomon has a lot more to come and can be a good squad player, he may even become more than that if he develops.

A current weakness for him is he cuts inside too much. In his appearances for us on the left so far, he barely ever went to the byline to use his left foot for a cutback/low cross and he needs to mix it up a lot more.

would like to get Nusa for the left side and Bakayoko for the right side. Wouldn't be against Soule or even more expensive option like Kubo.

I’d be surprised if Kvara wasn’t most people’s dream signing for the LW. A left side of him, Udogie and Maddison, with Son making runs in behind to also occupy defenders would be unbelievably difficult to defend against. Mostly I’d love to see him link up with Maddison, I think that would be an absolute pleasure to watch.

Agree, if we were serious the new CB would at least be on the bench for the Burnley cup game
