Will Spurs be able to cope without Harry Kane?

The team that got us to 2nd featured Kane (as well as Dembele). The team that featured without Kane was not in 2nd.

So whilst dropping Dembele isn't a good idea in my opinion, giving our league position to justify not dropping him isn't really that valid an argument
Why not just play son in Kane's position. It really is that simple

That's probably what we'll do. Though didn't work that well for us when he was injured last time out. Hope Son's recent form +/- Janssen's new found "goalscoring rainstorm" sees us through to a FA Cup Final...

Have got a new formation since then. What I do know is if you give Son enough chances he will take them. Just hope it's 3-4 games rather that 13-14!

I think it'll be more of a 343, with a fluid front 3, as opposed to a 3421, with Kane up top.

Son and Janssen provide options. With luck Kane will be back early, we really need him especially in the big matches.

It's frustrating that we played him against Millwall from the start. The benefit of hindsight makes me critical, but I thought Pochettino would have learnt from last season's burnout that more rotation was needed?

Not directed at you, but why do fans assume that not playing a top player against lower opposition guarantees fitness? Top players cannot play and train in a bubble.

We had a week off in between games so no need to rest a player like Kane. Had he not played then he would have had two weeks off which is not the best preparation for a top player. Top players need to stay fitness sharp, match sharp and playing games is key be it against Millwall or Chelsea.

This injury could just have easily happened in a warm up, in the final minute v Millwall, the first minute v Southampton or in training.

I have seen and been a part of some of the most competitive training sessions at times that make no sense to the average fan. I have seen tackles fly in the day before Champions League games, key league games, Euro Finals, WC Finals, etc. It sets standards and they have to be maintained.

Telling a player to pull out of a tackle or a team to go easy the day before a game is the fastest way to pick up injuries.

Of course.

But if you try and be objective, or mathematical about it and look at it this way, there's always a case for leaving him out:

-he's more likely to get injured playing against Millwall than not (statistically speaking - accepting he could get injured walking home)
-of all the teams we were going to play in forthcoming fixtures, Millwall were the weakest
-starting with Son/Janssen upfront gives them game time, time to build confidence and show what they can do against our last fixture against weaker opposition

Like I said before, it's easy to criticise anyone in hindsight and all your points are valid. We had a week's rest so didn't need to rest Kane, but from an armchair/stand manager's point of view, this is a game we could have had him on the bench to come on if needed.

Our chances of making the final will be hampered massively not having Kane up front.
