According to Jason Burt (who has a good record of getting things spot on) Sherwood is the only name currently being considered and is the person who the club "progresses discussions" with.

I really hope he is wrong.

I agree with you begginers luck with him, can`t speak English and doesn`t want to, not for me, I think Hoddle is ripe for it, right time , right squad with a tweek here and there, and he has something to prove, and no doubt a great coach.

How do you figure that?

Klinsmann and Ginola would be a great pairing for me. That being said - Tim Sherwood... hmmmm I can only hope that he gives everybody the opportunities they need to prove themselves and allow them a more free role in their positions.

I'd have Rafa Benitez. Been successful everywhere. People's dislike for him seem to stain his image but he is a good manager and I reckon he would have us playing some decent stuff. Just a shame he hasn't been mentioned.

Anyone but Sherwood though.

He picked the players, so to me it seems logical.

I think Sherwood make most sense right now. He knows everyone at the club, has presumably had a hand (part of the committee) in recruiting some/most of the new players, has worked with the development group.

Worse case scenario he buys us time until the summer in what was always going to be a transitional season anyway (IMO).

I voted for other. I'm a big fan of both Favre at Gladbach and Blanc at PSG...both excellent managers who have valuable experience in a multitude of difficult situations. I'm surprised they weren't mentioned. It will be interesting to see if either is attainable, certainly Blanc is on a one year gig so I wouldn't say it's ludicrous to suggest.

I think there are some good names on the list here, but IMHO it will be difficult to get most of the premium names till the summer at best. Sherwood till the end of the season might be the best bet at the moment...he is looked upon "highly" by the club so why not give him a shot? Not saying he is going to amount to that (hardly), but hell Guardiola's route to managerial stardom started out in similar vein.

They just had that "Hoddle for the job" idiot on again outside the club shop saying he's been coming since 1959 and has always enjoyed the football until now.

He was obviously wearing his head back to front from about 1989 through to 2005.

They are absolutely 100% ludicrous to suggest. Almost as crazy as people suggesting Klopp.

But if we get someone new in the summer next season would be a transitional season as well. If we hire someone now, they have the rest of the season for transition.

Has Sherwood even coached a youth game?

Until we achieve some real stability we'll always be in transition.

Isn't Jason Burt AVB's man though? I can't imagine Andre has a good sense of who's being considered to replace him. That Italian journo who knows Baldini, di Marzio I think, that's where we'll start to get some inside info I reckon.

I don't think Jason Burt is AVB's man. I thought that was Greg Stobart until recently anyway.

Well Gross was the most successful manager in Switzerland at the time, its hardly the most competitive league,
with Sendeross of Fulham the most distinguished player from there.
Err, are you serious? There's a reason Switzerland are so high in the rankings, they have a host of quality players. Shaqiri, Inler, Lichtsteiner, etc etc...If you want players in the Swiss league now look no further than Stocker and Schar (both at Basel)...Senderos doesn't play much in the national team anymore.

I'm not saying that the Swiss league is top 5 or anything but it's a solid league with a lot of talent, and as seen by some European exploits in the past couple of years, the teams are decent. Don't forget we went out to Basel and almost got throttled by Young Boys in our UCL qualifier.

And I'll say it again, Yakin and Gross are nothing alike.

Greg Stobart also saying Sherwood unless we can convince Capello.

Why? Favre I would say is a longer shot...but things aren't exactly cozy between him Gladbach board and Blanc hardly has anything approaching job security. It's not far from suggesting de Boer, Pochettino, Prandelli, Spalletti, etc.
