Who do we want in the last 8 of the Champions League?

Any of the European sides for our first CL match at the new stadium, I don't think any of the home teams will be quite the same.

For me, Porto or Ajax and preferably not any of the British clubs. The easier the journey to the final, the less stressful.

Anything can happen in a 2 leg CL cup game. But, as we proved against all odds from a poor start to the competition to comfortably seeing off Borussia Dortmund, this team can perform on its day. We are not the bookie's favourites, but the favourites often don't win.

I dare to dream but with fingers well and truly crossed.

Less than a 3% chance that 2 English sides won't be drawn against each other

I don't think that's right? For the first pairing it's 4/7 that it's English vs Foreign (if it's an English team out first, there'd be four foreign teams they could draw vs three English ones, and vice-versa). If that happens then for the second one it's 3/5. Then third would be 2/3, and the last would be 1/1. So the cumulative probability is (4/7)*(3/5)*(2/3) ≈ 22.857%

It'll be fixed I reckon. Uefa won't want 2 English clubs in the final ensuring at least 2 go out next round. Likely they'll want Juventus v Barca final. We'll get either above next while ManC will get Porto. LFC ManU to fight it out.

What did the QF draw look like the last time 4 English teams were in there?

I'd be happy with Porto, Ajax or Man Utd.

Messi or Ronaldo can wait till the final.

Hmm. The same people wanting us to draw Ajax or Porto, because they'd be the easiest opposition.

I bet you would also want us to play the likes of Burnley & Southampton as we approach the business end of the season and hope to cement our place in the top 3 and keep pace with the 2 teams above us.

I'm not meaning to be negative. The games we've actually performed in (in parts) recently, were against the likes of Chel$ki, United, Arseanal & Dortmund.

Maybe we'd be better if we had a tough draw?

I should point out that I obviously do understand the desire for Porto or Ajax & I actually do hope for the same. I'm just thinking more from the teams point if view based upon recent performances, or lack of them.

Probably crap. But worth posting. Pretty sure we get one of these every year.
