I haven't seen anyone linked with Stefan Kießling. I don't really know anything about him other than his stats are very good. Anyone know anything about him?

A couple of players that I haven't seen mentioned here and that I don't think we have been linked with;

Adem Ljajic - yes the guy who got punched in the mouth by his manager at Fiorentina. He's been in the shadows of Jovetic but he is a good bloody player from what I have seen (not very much tbh) - and could work both as wing forward and a second striker. In a dynamic 4-3-3 I think he would be good. His stats are surprisingly better than Jovetic's in terms of conversion, shots, goals and assists. Might be a cheaper option and since Fiorentina have just bought Gomez it might be a good option for us to swoop in.

But the player I would go for would be ....

Kevin Gameiro - remember him? No, well he was the top scorer in Ligue 1 a couple of seasons ago, and moved to PSG at the start of the money revolution at the Parc de Prince. Since then he has been hiding in the shadows looking at Ibrahimovic having all the fun. Now with the purchase of Cavani I would bet my right nut that he is getting nowhere near that team. Still only 26 but he wouldn't cost a fortune. I would have imagine that lot down the road would have been all over this. He's a clinical finisher and would be fantastic with the creative team we are building. In my humble opinion of course.

Gameiro is a good shout but is he really better than Defoe? He looks good in the French league but they're actually pretty similar players.

I don't think they are. so similar Gameiro has more than just the hit it hard option. He's scores from all over with great technique and his positioning and runs are better than JD imo.

His first season with PSG was very disappointing given his record at Lorient, and last season things got no better.

Mention of them down the road provides an object lesson in the problems involved in buying a striker: Bendtner was hopeless, Chamakh looked the business for about five minutes and then turned to shit, Gervinho's hardly anyone's definition of a goal machine, and whilst Podolski and Giroud haven't been wash-outs, they haven't exactly set the league on fire either. And then there's Walcott, who finally got into double figures after.... How many years?

Luis Muriel - never seen him play, how much would he cost? under contract to Uninese until 2017
Leandro Damiao - aren't we sick of waiting for him by now?
Jackson Martinez - seems too expensive
Imanol Agirretxe - not seen him play
Roberto Soldado - seems as it might not come off now and liverpool sniffing about
Pablo Osvaldo - attitude problems reported, seems like a bad idea
Bafétimbi Gomis - do not rate him
Óscar Cardozo - older and slow,... could be good, could be the next Pav (statistically)
Wissam Ben Yedder - not seen him play
Loïc Remy - not sure after that rape accusation business and his iffy ticker
Papiss Cissé - mental, no thanks
Graziano Pellè - not seen him play
Eder - looks like the Portugee Kenwynne Jones and he just signed a new 4 yr contract with Braga last summer,... if you like him, then why not ust buy K. Jones on the cheap and be done with it? (y)
Lisandro Lopez - 30 yo in last year of his contract, played for AVB at Porto. Could be a great/cheap deal :cautious:
Kevin Volland - wide striker and assist man - squad level at moment, but U21 German
Demba Ba - looking a better option every minute that passes,... maybe just a season loan for now?
Alfreð Finnbogason - 24 goals in 31 games last season and Icelandic team mate with Sigi (yep, geting thin)
Dimitar Berbatov - just fuqin' with ya :mask:

With it looking like we will spend 25 million on Soldado - are there better options for a lower price out there? I can't think of many even though it is a large fee.

If there were, we'd be in for them, and so would all the other top clubs in Europe. There are quite a few people who bang on about Bony but don't ask themselves why Milan, Chelsea, United, Juve, Bayern, Arsenal, Dortmund etc. didn't move for him. They don't ask themselves what happened to other Eredivisie top scorers, either (Suarez is the exception that proves the rule).

Think we have to go for it and keep our fingers crossed that he isn't another Morientes.

Van Nistelrooy and Van Persie made pretty decent transitions from Holland!

Burak Yilmaz

Actually prefer him to Soldado. Power-house striker, 6'2, great strength & pace, can finish with either foot and is excellent in the air. 32 goals in 39 apps, including 8 in 9 in the CL last season. Mourinho described him as ''World Class'', adding ''Burak could play for any team in the world''.

RvP was actually signed on his potential; he didn't score much at Feyenoord and didn't really get going at Arsenal until he'd been there for two or three seasons. RvN was very obviously different gravy, as were Ibrahimovic and Suarez. Even Bergkamp and Kuyt couldn't replicate their Dutch goalscoring exploits over here, although Bergkamp re-invented himself as a superb support striker and Kuyt became a Duracell bunny wide forward.

any chance we could do a deal for dzeko? i know his wages are very high but city may sell cheaper to get him off the books and we can cover his wages with a big signing on fee.

if not we should be having a bid for yilmaz.
