Cardozo or Yilmaz would be my choices I think. Dzeko I believe would thrive when a starter week in, week out but his wages may be a lot, although the fact Tevez was let go for £10m may mean we could steal him cheaply. Gomez at £15m is a snip if you ask me. Vucinic would be a decent option as he has a touch of Berbatov about him but is versatile enough to form a fluid 3 with bale and 1 other.

All options exhausted we could always try an audacious bid to bring Ade Akinbyi out of retirement.

If we could somehow get Soldado. Theres no reason why we couldnt challenge for the title.

Soldado, Chadli and Paulinho screams GOALS!!! something we havnt had for a while.

I like the idea of Osvaldo but seem to remember reading that he'd fallen out with Baldini in the past. Maybe I'm wrong.

blowing stuff out of proportion.

anyway... we will see wont be. hope we sign a striker soon... need him to get some preseason training under his belt to gel with bale and lennon before our fight for CL spot begins.

No, nothing like Adebayor. Nobody would pay his wages. At least one solitary team on this planet will pay Dzeko's.

Who? I'm pretty certain that Dzeko is on €175k per week. Dortmund offered him €100k before he went to city.

is he still on bail or has that been dropped now?

Still on bail as far as I know. I think his case is due to go to court October/November. However, I would almost put my house on this not going to court. Not that I know anything but this just always seems to be the situation in cases like this.

I think Valencia need to sell because their financial situation is dire, plus they have no champs league too.

They are playing a game by stating Soldado is not for sale, then saying if no bids by next week we up the price. Its all bullshit and Levy is waiting to pounce. There is no way we would bid 18m for a 28 year old. But 12m maybe.

Remy possibly fits the bill in terms of being achievable & affordable.
His goalscoring record for QPR (albeit over a short period) was impressive and, of course, he has premier league experience.

However the biggest positive I can see is his flexibility. He can play central and right which, along with Bale, Lennon and Chadli gives us a lot of potential movement which I really like the thought of. A mixture of those as our front 3 could confuse even the wiliest of defences.
It also works with Ade up front - he often pulls out left, leaving someone like Remy to get in the box, something Lennon's not overly comfortable doing.

It'll probably be Remy and another. Remy has a reasonable religation release clause, can play up top or wing forward. I think the another will be Soldardo, if Valencia dont play sill buggers on the price. I dont see us going over £22m. Is he better than Negredo or Jotvic (sp)? I wouldn't say so. If not him, Osvaldo is surplace to requrements at Roma and should be available for between £10-15m. Very good player but questionable temprament

Berba or Dzeko would be awesome, plus 1 more if we can get rid of mr offside. Happy to keep ade another season if his attitude is right

If we can't get a proven goalscorer maybe we should just bite the bullet and go for younger players who may become a bit special. The premiership is a tough league and i'd want to see us try players who have looked good against good competition rather than flat track bullies who have torn it up against poor defences. I'm not talking buying promising 17 year olds but rather players in their early 20s.

There have been a couple of tournaments this summer that I have watched which have been of a very decent standard; the Euro U21s and the World U20s. Both of these tournaments have produced some absolutely top class talent in the past (Euro U21 Golden players include Rudi Voller, Davor Suker, Luis Figo, Fabio Cannavaro, Andrea Pirlo, Petr Cech, Juan Mata and the U20 Golden Ball winners include Prosinecki, Maradona, Saviola, Messi and Aguero). Players who perform well in these tourneys are often on the verge of great things although it's often wise to avoid the Africans and Mexicans due to doubts over their real age :cautious:.

These tournaments also often show up overhyped players who have built their reputation against weak opposition (for example Jese Rodriguez and Gerard Deulofeu who looked mediocre in the latter stages of the tournament) but also uncover real gems.

Alvaro Morata absolutely tore up the Euro U21s despite not being the 1st choice starter and forced his way into the team ending the competition as the top scorer just as he had done in the Euro U19s in 2011. He is premiership ready and could be our Benteke or Michu next season. A classic centre forward who has been likened to Fernando Morientes. He'd cost about £15M.

From the World U20s Chile's Nicolas Castillo looked the best striker in the competition and would cost about £5M. More of a gamble than Morata but at a 1/3rd of the price. He can play as a lone striker or as part of a front 3.

Seeing as we got knocked back for the Croat youngsters i'd love to see us spend that money on these two.
