I'll be honest, I have no idea who that is but he has the right looks to be a Neville.

You can add Sami Hyypia to that list who was easily the better CB of the two in his time at Pool. You can compare them to our partnership of Dawson and King, JC was Liverpool's Michael Dawson. Solid, dependable, but not top class. Hyypia was the class act.
You can, and i did to be fair, although I spelt his name wrong

Neville was a massively underrated full back in his time, his crossing more so.

Great full back, and in those days (Brazillian full backs aside) he was a threat going forward. For a while, him and Beckham were deadly, when they tried to stop Beckham he would whip the crosses in.

Phil on the other hand was nowhere near him, Carragher, all though he had the effort, he lacked the ability on the ball. Never has the phrase 'has two left feet' been more apt for a footballer.

Infact both of those footballers, if they didn't play for United/Liverpool would have been at home at Stoke.

Infact you could have a game of were they actually good enough for a top team under Fergusons United teams and players like McClair, P Neville, Butt and a few others would have to be a hard NO.

On the other side you'd give a hard yes, to the underrated G Neville, O'Shea, Fletcher and even the ever injured Wes Brown.

As for punditry, Gary was a pioneer but I agree that I'd rather listen to Carragher these days, scouse accent withstanding.

England were in a great spot when we had Ashley Cole and Gary Neville as our fullbacks options. I don't think Neville was overrated during his playing career. He held down that RB spot at UTD for years despite sporting a dodgy basin cut.

I think he was rated accordingly
He wasnt a great but he wasn't bad. He was a steady 7 each game. It just so happens that when you played for Man United 7 out of 10 every game is pretty good

Roy Keane: "I'm a Spurs fan. I played for Man United but Spurs is my team"

I do like how Keane has become more vocal about his support for Spurs. I think it first came to light in his autobiography but the whole bit about Haaland meant that no one really paid any attention to it at the time.
Interesting on a personal note for him that his first experience of an FA Cup final was losing to us when he played for Forrest.

I would have loved that mad b*****d at Spurs. I'm Irish. He's my age and he's also my favourite non Spurs player of all time. He's mentioned the club a few times since he's become a pundit and I always give him a pass on it as it hasn't always been easy being Spurs. In a country where GAA dominates and the only acceptable "foreign sport" alternatives are United and Liverpool (with a smattering of Leeds fans) us Spurs fans have always been few and far between (Ever try buying a Spurs kit in Ireland?). He said many years ago, when he first got into punditry that "Spurs will always let you down" and I thought, that's fair. I had thought that he'd lost that allegiance over the years but was gratified to see that it still burns. I've always subscribed to the old adage that "you can change your car/house/wife but you can't change your team". I watched that video last night with my 11 year old and tears of joy rolled down our cheeks.

 A surprising yet exquisite finale. Well played, sir.

He seems to take a lot of stick/banter off fellow pundits these days and then you have lots of fans who think he was average. Neville, while insufferable at times to listen to, takes the abuse very well and can laugh at himself in fairness. Unfortunately, it seems lots of football fans take the jokes seriously and rate Neville as an average full back. He wasn't. He was exceptionally good. Not spectacular but very, very dependable and the sort of player you'd have in your team all day long.

Worked incredibly well with Beckham and actually had a decent cross on him too when he overlapped.

Also, he played as one of three CBs at Euro 96, so we know where Southgate got the idea to play Walker there for England.
