I left school at 15 with a D in English. You don't have to stop learning just because you're not at school anymore.
I'm 38 now. I imagine if I read something from my 15 year old self, I would hate it, sit myself down, and then explain the benefit of good spelling and grammar to myself.

he is nearly twice your age, which is good to see the older generations posting on here. if what someone post on here doesn't make sense in anyway because of grammar errors, or a 30 line paragraph then try and help them, not criticise.

the only thing Buckley has ever done that sometimes makes it a little harder was occasionally miss a space after a full stop, but got used to it in the end. the only other thing was his spelling of UEFA "EUFA", but after reading our book on shirts that same error was made on 1 of our early final visits in Europe. might of been the Cup winners Cup final

Your still wankers oh I forgot to add smug and arrogant obviously a cut above muppets like me.
You say people like me should learn to "take it as face value make a note and spell it differently next time"
How about next time someone makes a grammar error that the likes of you grammar police "take as someone not as clever as you and let it go" instead of going to the bother of pointing out others inadequate grammar.
But no this would take away your moments of glory and feeling superior.
Like I said smug with no tolerance of those with less knowledge than you ; but I guess that just in your eyes gives you some kind of kudos and if you want to be a teacher become one and don't lurk on football sites where most of us are simple folk .
Go to a site fitting your intellect .

David was trying to help buckley not criticise you

I took the trouble to speak to you in a frank, supportive and non-condescending way. Your reply betrays the fact that you have a major chip on your shoulder about this whole issue. You aren't going to be rational about it, you're just going to do anything that it takes for you to feel aggrieved and bitter about your literacy.

I think your reply is contemptible. I think you're pretty fucked up about this. Now change the bloody record. You are embarrassing yourself.

I do love it when toys are being thrown from prams. There should be some kind of notification to point us to threads where it is currently happening.

I don't mind being called "stupid" also don't mind being told "I Know nothing about football " its the nature of this kind of site and is meant as banter so ultimately I take offence.
What I do take offence to is captain Smug from smug land where all the inhabitants are from "I am cleverer than you land" being pulled up for my grammar for my deficiencies I make no apologies .
And if it makes you feel good and superior in pulling people up on their grammar well don't pretend you are always replying to my moans about you are because you in someway unhappy with peoples grammar.
You are replying because it makes you feel superior.
I will make no more replies as others must be sick of me going of off this sites menu for which I profusely apologise . goodbye farewell Just to add although I said I make no apologies for my grammar I apologise for rattling on its the nature of old uneducated farts.

People who are unable to notice, or pick up on the fact that someone is blatantly embarrassed by the fact that others are (in their opinion) of a greater intellectual capacity than themselves. They are the ones who are uneducated, and they should be fucking ashamed of themselves.

Guess what? Everyone's shit stinks. Deal with it or climb down from those mightily high horses of yours.

This place is supposed to be for EVERYONE, so literally EVERYONE should feel comfortable enough to be able to post without fear of ridicule, or being called out because they're not as smart or eloquent as others are.

Finally, you have no idea what any individual may be dealing with outside of this site. You have no idea if they may be unbelievably 'mentally fragile' , and what you believe are harmless words, or just poor attempts at humour/banter, could well have a disastrous affect upon the individual you've singled out.

There's enough ugliness & in this fucking ever worsening world for people to deal with every day. Don't add to it be being shallow or unthoughtful about others.

Sorry!

I think that the poor bloke has been getting grief about various things, over a few threads. Most of it was lighthearted, some, not so much but all the little things built up.
I'm sure we've all been on either side at some point, it's just one of the many Joy's of the internet.

Alternatively, you could just take it at face value, make a mental note and spell it differently next time. I always try to make it a bit humorous or fun when pointing out an errant bit of grammar and I usually only mention it when it confuses the meaning of the post (or, TBH, when it's one of my bugbears, such as "should of" and "would of" and "top draw").

I also try to avoid aiming any such posts at people who write "incorrectly", but still make their point clear, because that's what really important: communicating clearly. Grammar and spelling help, but there are plenty of people who can get their point across without a university education and plenty of other people who use their education to blow smoke and try to conceal that they are talking absolute bullshit.

Sometimes it isn't mockery and it isn't the class war. It's just information about writing with clarity.

‘Writing with clarity’ isn’t a choice, it’s a skill. I personally think it’s incredibly rude to make a point out of criticising the grammar, writing style or whatever you want to call it, of someone who hasn’t learnt or been taught that skill.

I also think there is an element of class snobbery in there. You appear to be oblivious to the fact that someone who doesn’t know the rules of grammar you’ve so clearly perfected, might be self conscious about that fact, and would prefer that other people don’t draw attention to it.
