chatting to a couple of my mates who follow the baggies and they seem to think berahino will join spurs
From Villa Talk on Adebayor:
"I'm fine if he comes, however my real hope is that sherwood is just playing with Levy.
Making Levy think he is getting £100k a week off his books, only for us to either walk away or get him for a reduced amount later in the window.
Will not help their recruitment plans.
Be nice to see Tim play Levy...."
"100k a week until the end of June is what? £4.7m? (£4.3m come deadline day). That's still a pretty hefty gamble on our part for where we are right now. It would also absolutely smash our pay structure. Even if they're not asking for a fee (and come on people its Levy - he's asking for a fee), I still think it would be a monumental moment for the club. However of course in the real world top players get 100k+ a week.
If I was Lerner though and Tim managed to get rid of Nzogbia and his £2m+ of wages I'd give him a bonus of £2.5m and let him do whatever he wants"
"I agree, we actually bought two strikers already and effectively have a new signing in a fit Kozak. Some parts of the media would have you believe that Adebayor was Benteke's replacement but that is not the case. I think he is experienced cover whilst we bedded down a young striker. Personally I would still take him and I think we will end up with him.
The bit I am enjoying is for once Levy does not hold all the cards as we have plenty of striking options and we could take Berbatov on a free as an alternative. The delay will be us playing hardball."
"The deal will cost us around £5million however its dressed up. We would have to contribute at least half towards his wages and a fee of around £2.5 million. if we offered to pay his wages in full to get him off Spurs books, they would probably snap our hands off, other than that, a fee would have to be paid. My guess is that we're at least £1million apart and we are in a much stronger negotiating position than Spurs are.
For those suggesting it is a gamble, I would ask what striker wouldn't be? Austin performed for a season but to me, he represents a bigger gamble, given the financial package that would be involved. There is no guarantee of any signing working out and there have been some real clangers over the years. For me, at around £5million, Adebayor would give us 12 months breathing space to see how Gestede pans out and also to ensure this years kitty is invested elsewhere within the team. If we need a striker in 12 months then we will be in a position to buy one.
Adebayor would represent insurance to me. I'd ideally like Gestede to work for us but if he struggled, Adebayor would be great back up. Vice versa, if we could get Adebayor to reproduce the form he showed under Sherwood then Gestede could be cover in case Adebayor lost interest half way through. The thought of playing them both in a 4-4-2 or a 4-4-1-1
is also intriguing"
Timmy had a higher ppg ratio in his time as manager than AVB did in his record season, Tim had a better record than AVB with the same team, and Tim didn't have Bale pulling every other game our of the fire. But AVB took us to our record points tally, did Timmy? No. Over a longer period of time, his win ratio wouldn't have been as good. We've all got differing opinions, mine is I don't like the bloke, never have, never will. I don't think he has potential, and I don't think he's any good.
The fire sale continues ....next one out of the door from White Hart Lane is Benjamin Stambouli (after little more than one season).....gone to PSG for a paltry £6 million !
........wonder how much Spurs lost on THAT deal......?.
They've made a profit on him.

I wish someone would tell them that about half of the Soldado fee was performance based, and therefore the loss we are making on him is minimal.
Because they were in financial trouble. It was £26m, not £13m and bonuses. The whole "and bonuses" thing only popped up a year after the deal, once he had flopped, and people clung onto it because it makes the transfer less embarrassing. Valencia were in financial trouble, and needed money - so why would they agree to a deal that's 50% bonuses?

Beacuse they needed around 18 million upfront i think it was. I actually cant rememeber now.
I think that was discussed on here at the time.
£18m upfront, and we can guess some of the clauses were met, so we're still looking at almost £10m lost, if that's the case.

Actually no, the president actually said they were after €18m for 1 player before he sold soldado on a local Valencia radio station saying that was the amount that needed to match the revenue from the previous season after missing out the CL.It was £26m, not £13m and bonuses. LOL at the Villa fan who thinks Libor Kozac will keep Ade out of their first team!
That guy is proper dogshit.
