Tottenham are interested in Juventus and United States midfielder Weston McKennie, 23. If Spurs are successful, Juve would have space for 21-year-old Monaco and France midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni

Much as I would love to see an impactful American back with the club, I would rather we go for Dujan Kulusevski if we plan a raid on Juve's midfield.

So torn on this. Loads of potential but I just don't think we need him unless we are offloading Dele. You'd basically be getting a more defensive, younger version of Dele.

McKennie is so much better than Dele its not even a fair fight.

Well that’s just not even remotely true & you know it. He’s a different player to Dele. And a better one. He’d be a decent squad option to have.

Anyway, we are getting linked to essentially Juve player under the sun at this point so i’ll take this with a mountain of salt the size of Mt Everest.

I don't know that he's better than Dele. Yes they are different players but similar attributes (loose first touch, not great passing, can run for days, grafters).

If you are asking which one I'd rather have in the squad I'd say McKennie as he's younger, but I don't know how much he improves us in the immediate term.

I went on a Juve forum to research kulusevski, they hate him, and went in to the McKennie thread. He's well liked on there. General consensus is he might never be world class, but he leaves everything on the pitch, and he's more than decent.

That's the problem I have with McKennie. By all reports he's a hard worker, someone that will run for days but is lacking in end product. From the limited footage I've seen of him, that's backed up so why sign him? We have Skipp, Hojbjerg, Sarr coming next season and have been heavily linked to Kessie. That's four players without a strong creative passer amongst them. 343 or 352, there is no sense in signing this guy unless we are selling off two of the aforementioned.

I’ve only watched him a few times for Juve and on those occasions he has looked much more rounded than say PEH, much more athletic and makes forward runs from midfield into the box. Quick look at his stats at Juve show he has scored 7 goals in 47 games, not bad for no end product.

Well I'm not that familiar with the Juve midfield, but on the Juve forum many said this lad is more useful than a lot of supposedly creative players, in an attacking sense.
They essentially said himself and Locatelli are the only ones who are consistently worthy of the shirt, and supposedly shit on more creative midfielders like Bentancor, and Rabiot, in an offensive sense.
As a caveat they pretty much universally loved him in Juve all or nothing(found him humble, and hilarious) so that might be clouding their judgement a bit.

That’s because he’s probably been their best midfielder along with Locatelli. Just like he is the US’s best CM(i will die on this hill & i say this as a big Tyler Adams & Yunus Musah guy - i reserve the right to retract this statement if adams goes to woolwich). Wes is just a good all around CM & his passing isnt nearly as much of a negative as some seem to think IMO. World class? Absolutely not & he will never be. But a good CM in a Champions League side? In my opinion, yes. As long as he puts in the work & Conte wants him, I’d sign him tomorrow. The key for me is to back Conte & get him who he wants.

I think we need technically good, press resistant players in the middle as it's not even funny how bad we are at that.

It doesn't sound like he's that sort of player to me.

Pulisic is the most talented American but McKinnie has been the heart of this US team lately

Quick reminder that Hoijberg was in the Euro team of the tournament - he’s a well rounded player that we use in a certain way

That is true, the problem is that we have 2 of them! For me we need a better passer in there and a bit more dynamism/athleticism. Skipp has been amazing since conte came in and if we brought in another more creative cm I would drop peh.

He's not. Pape Sarr has similar characteristics to McKennie and he's 4 years younger with better passing range. I've watched Weston since he was a kid at FC Dallas and though i'd love to see us sign him as he's a good player, we need a better passer in midfield. Actually, reports that Leeds might be interested for Weston, would be a good move for him.

`I like the look of the lad bit of everything. `Could help drive our midfield.

Don't see what he would bring us over Skipp/PEH other than a rotation piece.
