Wenger's excuses for last night's defeat just don't add up. he claims that his side were immature and lacked experience so I put together a quick list of Premier League appearances for both sides last night.

This doesn't include substitute appearances (which for Arsenal would have made a huge difference) and only includes games for their respective sides - so for Arsenal the likes of Gallas and Silvestre, for example, would have added even more to the final total, while the likes of Jenas and Bent would have added a few extra to our total. It does, however, take away any possible excuse that a player is not used to a particular system or his team-mates (even though Wenger's been there for over a decade and Harry's been there for five minutes).

But, again Wenger's claims of immaturity and lack of experience (just like his claims that they are a young side) are wrong as on PL appearances alone Arsenal tot up a total of 656 while Spurs is 406! Fabregas has played the most PL games for either team out of all the players on the pitch yet he was the one who waved away the short corner tactic to run down the clock!

This myth that they are a young, inexperienced side is simply that - a myth!

Here's the list:

Arsenal
M Almunia 50
B Sagna, 37
W Gallas, 61
M Silvestre, 3
G Clichy 92
T Walcott 23
(sub: E Eboué, 75min), 62
F Fàbregas, 128
Denilson, 17
S Nasri 6
(sub: A Song, 87min) 13
E Adebayor, 74
R van Persie 63
(sub: A Diaby, 81) 27
TOTAL 656

Tottenham Hotspur
H Gomes 10
A Hutton 17
(sub: C Gunter, 79), 5
V Corluka, 7
J Woodgate, 21
B Assou-Ekotto 23
D Bentley, 10
J Jenas, 94
T Huddlestone, 59
G Bale 16
(sub: A Lennon, 55) 92
L Modric 8
R Pavlyuchenko 7
(sub: D Bent, 65). 37
TOTAL 406

Wenger isn't saying we aren't young and experienced. I think he's probably comparing it to his title winning sides, not to us. He's not saying we used our supeior experience to cause them problems (this would be a lie). He's just saying that naivety cost his team and he's probably right. I can't see the likes of Adams and Vieira allowing Arsenal to be so stupid in the final moments. Basically I don't think what he's saying has anything to with us. We could be the most experienced or inexperienced side in the world, but Wenger is still probably right is what he's saying.

You sure about those figures?

I think Bentley has played more than 10 premier league games, Woodgate more than 21, Jenas more than 94 I could go on.

Or are you just counting games for Spurs? If so that really is rather silly.

Just re-read your post and you do state that your just counting games for their current team. As I said that is rather silly. Makes no sense in doing that when talking about premier league experience, prem experience is prem experience regardless of where you got it!

Just on the subject of how incredibly fantastically marvelously wonderful wenger is at grooming (heh heh) young boys throug the academy into the first team; how many of the arsenal team, were there with David Bentley? Maybe Fabregas and Van Persie were there before Bentley left but how many came through the ranks with him?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the answer is none which doesn't say much after a decade in charge.
Perhaps if he'd been better his team may have had more experience.

I think people on here have got it reversed, in his interview he was castigating his team for trying to keep posession and kill the game off instead of going for another goal, his point was that they should have gone for a fifth goal which is a bit much when he's the one that substituted Van Persie and Walcott.
Me thinks he protests too much and was trying to shift the blame onto his players.
Nasty piece of work isn't he?

That is exactly what I thought, if he wanted to push for the fifth why not put on Bendtner for Van Persie. His over confidence cost them the game as much as his players over playing things. He is the worst manager in the Premiership when it comes to making excuses for losing imo.

On another note - I was proud that our players didn't let their heads drop at any time in that game and that is why we were in with a chance at the end of the game.

To be fair Lucky 22 did state they were only starts for thier respective team and they didnt include substitute appearance’s:
