Had we not won the Carling - through the fair play table. Looks Like Man Shitty are going be be awared a spot

From Teamtalk

Manchester City are in pole position to claim a spot in next year's UEFA Cup after the FA was awarded an extra place in the competition
European football's governing body on Friday revealed that English teams had topped their Fair Play competition, meaning an extra place in the first qualifying round of the 2008-09 UEFA Cup.
The FA has confirmed the berth will be awarded to the highest-ranked side in the Premier League fair play table that has not qualified for Europe by other means.
City currently stand fifth in the fair play table, behind Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool - who are all already guaranteed a place in continental competition.
That means Sven-Goran Eriksson's team, with only a single league game remaining, stand on the brink of an unexpected European spot.
In the 162 European matches featuring English clubs that were watched by UEFA delegates between May 1 last year and April 30, 2008, Premier League sides achieved a Fair Play coefficient of 8.143.
The statistic is determined based on criteria such as positive play, respect of the opponent, respect of the referee, behaviour of the crowd and of the team officials, plus cautions and dismissals.
The seven other associations who achieved a coefficient above eight - Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Spain and France - will be entered into a draw for a further spot which will take place at the City of Manchester Stadium on May 13.

unbelievable eh!!

Spurs qualiffied for Uefa Cup twice

we are currently sitting in 1st place in the fair play league and it has just been announced that an english side will get the extra place in the Uefa Cup which will be man city.

1) Tottenham
2) Arsenal
3) Manchester United
4) Liverpool
5) Man city

so we have gone from being knowhere near europe 5 years ago, too qualiffing twice for the competition in 1 season.

Just made me laugh a bit.

Well done spurs for being the best Fair play team in the Prem. Probably why we have dropped so many points.

typical when we don't need it - didn't we once lose a lottery for a euro fair play spot

I thought the same as bullet, means we will now be in the same bidding war with Man C for players.

Yep in Jol's first season, we finished 7th and was the highest non-european team but England weren't top of the FPL. This time England are and we're top of our FPL.

Fulham can possibly finish above ManC, I'd rather have them in europe although if ManC get into europe it'd probably hamper them in the league.

It's even more amazing considering the dumb cards we picked up, namely Keane and Zokora's sendings off and Huddlestones needless red (i.e he deserved it but didn't need to "headbut" anyone). It's also amazing that Arsenal are second, I guess the refs need to clam down on confronting the ref more and general bad sportsmanship. They're not dirty, just a horrible bunch.

Spurs: So nice, we qualified twice
