After watching VDV the last couple of games and adding to that to what I already know about him I'm starting to think that maybe us missing us on fab and ending up with VDV could be blessing in disguise, as not only is he younger but it now looks like we're gonna change our formation to a 4-5-1/4-4-1-1 which could end up being more usefull to us especially in europe
I'm really looking forward to seeing VDV modric and defoe play together. As like others have said I can see defoe benifiting no end, it just seems like a good system especially if modric comes inside then bale can bomb up left wing. Anyway I'm getting off subject, so who would be the better signing?

I thought that too bubble at the time, but don't you think VDV behind defoe will be just as good?

i think it will, but we could have had Modric behind Fabiano which in my opinion just edges it

I am not so sure you can compare them, as Fabiano would've cost twice (and a half?), according to papers/"ITK". VDV was first and foremost a good piece of business from my point of view.

Having said that, nothing hinders us trying to get a new striker in January (would be difficult) or in a year. Thus, we would have a new (hoppefully high class) striker and VDV.

After watching Arsenal yesterday, I'm very relieved that VDV didn't go to there, he'd be brilliant for them as well I think, they'd be pretty scary.

I'm hoping VDV and Defoe will be a pretty attractive combination.

Definitely VDV.. no question about it! We've been missing a player who links midfield and attack for a while now. We've been way too over reliant on wingers.

vdv = massive improvement.
fab = massive improvement.

vdv improvement for spurs < fab improvement for spurs

EVEN THOUGH vdv as an individual player > fab as an individual player.

I voted Fab.

VDV.

We needed either a number 9 or a number 10 above all else.

Fabiano would've just been an upgrade on Defoe.

The perfect window would've seen us sign both a number 9/10 and an out and out striker. A partnership to work as well as the Keane and Berbatov one. But i'm happy enough with the number 10 for now.

I would love us to sign Suarez as the main striker. I thought he played that role very effectively at the world cup, with Forlan playing in the hole.

Its hard to compare the two, as there such diffrent players. Had we got Fabiano, and he'd be banging the goals in then we'd all be saying we prefer Fabiano.

It is hard to judge. I would say we needed a striker more, however signing VDV gives us something diffrent. More creativity in midfield, and lets face it, on there given day any of our strikers could do what Fabiano could do...

Fabiano only looks good compared to our current strikers. So fab is better improvement to us but that doesnt mean fab is a better player than vdv

Fabiano, much as I'd have taken him for the right price and on our terms, was a bullet dodged in my opinion. He's a good striker, not a great one, but would have expected the treatment of a great striker. If we replace our forwards, especially for those kinds of numbers, it has to be somebody of the very highest quality. I'm talking Torres, Eto'o, that kind of level. We can't attract that at the moment? Fine, we'll do well with what we have, improve, impress, and get to the level where we can attract that class of striker.

I say we plonk down *insert whatever amount Ajax are asking* on the table in Jan for Suarez.

I would say Dzeko would be as nice but I don't think he'd come here. Couldn't hurt to ask I suppose.
