No pressure eh!

I would have thought the striker is Forlan and the defender I heard about on Thursday was this guy. New name on me and he'll need eu passport to play over here. He may have one as he's been in Portugal.

I know he is not a big name.

Still expect Richards, Cole and the boy Wickham if all goes well.

re pedro geromel, cologne have apparently set his asking price at about £5.8 million and Lazio & Juventus are following him.

He's awesome in real life. Has basically kept Cologne up over the past two season on his own and was the defender of the year in Portugal the year before he moved the the Bundesliga. However as a Brazilian that even Tim Vickery had never heard of, he'll never play for the National team and can't be squeezed through as a special talent. Unless they know of a way to get him a Portuguese passport, there is no way this will happen for us.

Sounds like the guy has some serious potential, hopefully we can persuade Forlan to join too........he is at the top of his game at the moment!

Roger updated his post, said he has an Italian passport and plays on the right of a central defence.

Actually it wasn't Roger, it was another poster.

Just look up 'Pedro Geromel Italian passport' and you'll see a few articles about him.

Very, very good defender. Real Madrid were close to signing him last year.

Definitely a presence at the back and both good in the air and on the deck. I think his biggest issue would be communication issues.

I wrote an article prior to the world cup about the Brazilian National Team selection and picked out Geromel as a player who deserved to be in the reckoning.

Would be very happy with this and even happier that we have scouts watching the Bundesliga closely.

Took Gomez a while to get it together. But with his help it will be easier.

P.S haven't got a clue who he is but from the excitement from youlot sounds good. Def wont happen .

Well he would be able to communicate with his goalkeeper alright and that is important. Let's be honest Ledley's English isn't great either, how long is it going to take this guy to be at a similar conversational level?

It would also indicate that perhaps we decided to look elsewhere rather than get into the race for Kjaer. I have seen Kjaer quite a lot and not seen Geromel so I can't make a comparison but Kjaer is not the complete defender that he is being made out to be. He is quite quick, quite strong, and is a decent defender but clearly has a lot of progression to make. I don't think he is actually ready for any of the top clubs that were rumoured to be interested in him before (although I think that interest was largely exaggerated by agent/Palermo). Wolfsburg is bigger and better than Palermo and it will be a good move for him. I think there are better more suited defenders for us at this moment and maybe that is what we are looking at.
