Hold the phone! Bayer were cruising with 10 minutes to go - Hamberg need 2 goals in the last 10 mins to go through... Well, Van der Vaart has just scored (81 min), so Hamburger could still do this :)

Wasn't too suprised Zenit eliminated Marseille seeing as they also defeated Villareal in the previous round and besides having a decent team with internationals, the weather conditions are a real benefit for them.

I'm actually more surprised I haven't seen them in the CL. They always play well in the UEFA cup.

On that note, I'd hate to be drawn against a Russian/Ukrainian team at any stage in a European tourny. Must be bloody awesome playing in those conditions when you're not used to it.

Hamburg qualify to the next round after drawing 0-0 the first leg and coming from behind 1-2 to win 3-2 in the second leg

I hope we get Bayer in the next round, just so Juande can see Rene Adler play and say "fuck all, we need him"

I am being optimistic about tonights match

Not even remotely surprised about Zenit. Dick Advocaat has done well there and they have stacks of cash, too. Marseille are also bobbins.

I'm relieved though as I told my gaffer to put some money on Zenit each way as they are way overpriced (2nd least fancied side before this round which is garbage).
