Used to love watching the guy, a really top player, but he's not played regularly for a very long time.

On top of this, even if one of the Croats is employed in the middle, we still have the other to do a very good job on the left, and the likes of Giovani and even Bale waiting in the wings. I'm not convinced we should be looking for a left midfielder at the current time, not because I wouldn't love to see a great one, but because the way our team, style and formation have evolved, one isn't particularly necessary.

Whilst i'd tend to agree with you in theory, it seems as though Harry doesn't really have that much faith in the back up wide men. It's resulted in us playing a formation without any width. Maybe he sees Vicente as a pacy wide man option in case we don't have Lennon on the pitch.

From MadridSpur on COYS

Pav is being looked at by a couple of teams....Valencia is one (as reported) and Atleti.

The Vicente story seems to be linked more to Pav as my bloke says Valencia need to be creative as they are still broke.....looks like the will hold on to Villa till summer though.

Sevilla delighted with Zok (not news really)

Negredo was close to pushing through deal to us until Sevilla came in.

That's all.

Great for the P&L report If we buy him for about 3m and sell Modders in the Summer for about 23m to Man U Eek

It's not just about money is it , he deserves to be surrounded by better players than Spurs can furnish .

Have you got any suggestions for how the club can achieve that critical mass of enough top drawer players to start retaining them ?

Having spent 150 odd million in a short period of time I would think it possible with a bit of planning to be able to have 2 or 3 of these types of player in our squad at the same time

But hey it's not all about the money, not as If Tottenham are a big club, good of him to play for us for 2 seasons before the club cash in and he goes to a rival competing for the title as 1 of the CL clubs!

modric is young enough not be in a hurry and a good guy. i have faith he will not be holding the club to ransom anytime soon, though they should have a look at a new deal and make him one of the top earners imo

We really should not be buying players with dodgy injury records; we have enough at the club already.

What we should be looking at when buying players is technique accompanied with a combination of speed and/or strength.Goal Keeper apart.

With the following criteria how many players within our current squad match up?

King=technique, speed and strength
Assou-Ekotto= technique speed and strength
Woodgate=tech, strength
Modric=tech, strength, busts of speed
Jenas=can be frustrating but has all three when he applies himself.
Corluka=tech strength
Dos Santos= tech, speed, imo strength
Bale= tech, speed, strength
Defoe=tech strength, speed
Keane=Enigma
O'Hara=tech, strength

Too Many players within our squad do not have enough of the above.

Lennon= speed, strength
Huddlestone=tech.
Bentley=tech.
Hutton=speed

Crouch=tech
Kranjcar=tech
Palacios=strength speed
Pav=tech
Bassong=strength speed
Dawson strength

The list goes on....

to be honest, after his brief spell against the mackems on saturday, I'd happily see a midfield of

Modric, Palacios, Krancjar, Lennon

For me Krancjar showed himself to be a really good footballer with some great passing - hope it happens.

Harry could not really have done much better in his short time with us .

I do worry whether the club has a propper plan on the football side though . I think Martin Jol did have but it wasn't going to go anywhere with Comolli imposed upon him .

Then again the board have never been able to stick with anyone for more than 2 years before ripping the plan up and starting from scratch .
