We thought given the current situation we'd make a generic thread for transfer discussion that doesn't necessarily fit into a current player thread.

While there's no ITK or real news happening, we're happy to be quite relaxed with this. If things pick up, we'll go back to our regular (stricter) format but for now, go nuts.

Oooooooooh!!

Between corona and nutty happenings in murica I keep forgetting the transfer window is open lol.

Seems quiet in general too as not been any transfer yet in league has there?

I must say the links with perisic dont really surprise me and I think there might just be something in them. Albeit we have Bale, lo celso , lamela , lucas behind stevie B for that position perisic strikes me as the type of player Jose would like to bring in. Could potentially see us offering up lucas, davinson or coco to inter to get a deal or two over the line with them this window.

I’ve seen links appear today from Spain (AS) that we’re interested in Eder Militao of Madrid. We were rumoured to be interested in the summer and now again. He made a £45 million move from Porto to Madrid two seasons ago and hasn’t been getting much game time this season so it looks like Madrid are looking to shift on. Might be a possible transfer to look out for this window.

I have serious doubts that any team will be spending big this window, nevermind us. Any ideas of 30 million plus signings is just fanciful.

Most deals I see happening will be loan moves with options/obligations but mainly selling clubs trying to get shifted of wages more than anything.

I think any of our business this window will be depend on what PSG do. If they sign Eriksen or Dele, they would have to make room by letting a couple players go. L'Equipe reports that the five players currently on the chopping block at PSG are Leandro Paredes, Idrissa Gueye, Julian Draxler, Ander Herrera ( I think Poch will veto this one) and Thilo Kehrer. I would be thrilled if we could take either Gueye or Paredes on loan from them. Gueye is a DM and can play back-up to PEH or partner with him to give us an even stronger midfield base. Paredes if we want a deep lying playmaker with great passing range who can also chip in defensively.

That's Gueye that played for Everton, right?

Yeah he provided a lot of energy in middle for Villa and Everton, could be what we need in the middle alongside PEH and also able to deputise for him.
The only downside to such talk is that Poche will probably like him.

True. Poch does also have Herrera, Danilo, Veratti, Rafinha and Sarabia to call on, so he's spoilt for choice. Gueye being the oldest one at 31 might be impact that decision.

I did say Id take Gueye but actually Paredes may make more sense.

Gueye would do the job Hojbjerg does and whilst he covers the defence well, I think we need a more progressive midfielder otherwise we'll encounter the same problems

If we want a real number 10 then we should try for a loan deal for Martin Ødegaard. One of the best players in La Liga last season but isn't getting a look-in at Real at the moment.

That's because he's plagued by injuries. He would play if he was able to get fit.

He was really good the first half of last season, but quite average the last half.

Funny, because I've read PSG fans online saying their midfield isn't very good. I think Veratti is the only one of those that you've mentioned thats actually performed well consistently for them.
