not sure how this would go down, but until we started playing 3 centre backs this season, Dier's place in the starting eleven wasn't entirely nailed on.

Wanayama has taken over 1 of the two CMs spot, Dembele has the next spot.

In defence, Toby and Vert have the 2 CB spots.

So it's formation alone keeping Dier in the 1st team.

So the question is, would he stay at Spurs to be on the bench (where he will get many minutes i'm sure, but not start very often) rather than go to the Mancs to be in their 1st team?

I'm not so sure.

I'm not his biggest fan in the back three but he played really well I thought for England in Germany and we will certainly need him moving forward. Big Vic will be out from time to time and even if we buy another CB in the summer Eric would still probably play 20 games at CB next season. We need to turn up twice a week, not just once

Love Dier, but is he a 40 million center back? Unfortunalty he won't replace Wanyama while he's with us

Got to say that if true and i were Poch and Levy i'd think seriously if that were indeed the offer. You can certainly upgrade as forty million on Dier.

Lose Dier then Alli wont be as happy as he has been and he'll be gone the following season.
He's a very good young player whose going to get better, utd think so apparently, so no. Fk off.
This is as much about disrupting our squad as it is Utd actually wanting him. Very Maureen.
No for me Clive.
Of course on the other hand it could just be bollox or agents (football not secret) stirring shit.

Mouriniho and Utd unearthed another gem ,how do they do it !!!!,there scouting network is outstanding.:)
I know, these top class managers are just football genius. Lets get Naymar, Bale, Modric, Ozil, Pogba, Ibrahimovic, Ronaldo, etc etc....
Hey look at this team he built. Fantastic. What a coach.

The only one of these fkers whose shown he actually has some soul and is prepared to not just throw money around is imo Benitez because although he is still at arguably the richest club in his league he was prepared to put his money where his mouth is and drop a division, putting his head on the block. I admire that.
Coming into a club and spending 250m every year?? Well the fkin tea lady can do that.
Rant over. Off to work lol.

That shows how much Pochettino values Dier. He seems to be one of the main leaders on the pitch and is often tasked with delivering instructions to team mates from the sidelines. I think Poch would fight tooth and nail to keep him.

That's the thing people don't see.

In creating a squad/team you are creating bonds and friendships. It's all very well saying "oh we can afford to lose him" or "he's not that important" but taking friends out of a club can leave an entirely different feeling in the changing/dressing rooms and at the club.

Dier hasn't been great at CB, and played much better for England at CM, but he is part of the beating heart of this club. he shows passion on the pitch and has friends at the club and I for one wouldn't want to rock the boat.

Poch has always been as interested in players character as footballing ability, and we're reaping the rewards. I think Dier is very much part of that philosophy. You only have to look at Chelsea or Man City to see that some very talented footballers can have a very negative effect on overall team performance.
