Tottenham are ready to battle to sign Marcus Thuram when he leaves Borussia Monchengladbach on a free transfer this summer. The Times report that Spurs are in the mix to sign the Frenchman, who shone in their World Cup final penalty shootout defeat to Argentina.

He'll probably end up at a bigger club who already have 6 top strikers. He'll demand massive wages and agent fees which will rule us out imo.

I’m not sure this is true because if it was, surely we’d have made a move to sign him in January (when he was available for €12m approx)
Why wait and enter the auction?

Maybe difficulties regarding the shifting of our own players in January.

Didn't that scupper a move or two for supposed targets. ??, or have i imagined that. ??

Feckin January was only a few weeks ago too. :banghead:

Plus it makes much more sense for him to hang on half a season to get a Bosman.

Not a great sign if 12mil in transfer fee and 6 months of wages is more than we can muster for a player we supposedly rate highly!

I would suspect he probably has his sights set a little higher than us and if there were no concrete offers on that front having his pick in the summer makes more sense for the player as much as anyone.

I get we need to be smart with transfers but we seem to be constantly linked with players running down their contracts.

Looking at the Rich List, there aren’t too many who should beat us in a race to sign a player we are serious about.

This is not a good player, not (yet) an elite player…
