Tottenham have now lost Rio Bromfield after Borussia Monchengladbach swooped in.
The Germany U16 international will be playing his football for Borussia Monchengladbach next season after agreeing to leave Spurs.

Bromfield has seemingly decided to take his career down a more German route rather than commit to England. The 16-year-old made his debut for the England U16 side back in November, but then switched to become a Germany U16 international that same month, winning two caps so far.

I mean yes, moving to the German league is indeed a "more German route".

I don't blame him to be honest.
I posted somewhere on SC over ten years ago that young players would be better off, career wise, going to Germany since then there have been some stand out examples and if he's part German anyway I think it's a no brainer.

There's also been a few that got lost in the proverbial black forest too

I think if they're not going to make it then they're not going to make it that's life but I think there's more chance of them reaching first team football sooner, certainly than at our club over the last few years.
I also think there are players in the Premier league that will never see Champions league or Europa league football that are good enough to play for European teams in those competitions.

He plays for the German team I follow (Wiesbaden). Played twice and then did his hamstring in January. Apparently will be back soon. Look pretty lively in both games coming on as a sub.

If he has decided to play for Germany, then it makes complete sense.

I was thinking a few days ago when Liverpool played Chelsea with a lot of young players and then later in the cup and played well. It's not something we seem to do, give youth a chance even when we have injuries. We would rather shuffle players around and play them out of position. I'm not saying the guy that's moved to Germany will turn out to be a great miss but we have some talented young players at the club who never seem to get a game. You can't blame them for leaving if they're never given time to prove themselves. They may not turn out to be a Harry or a Ledley but we will never know if they never play. I'm not sure that Ange is a manager who encourages the young players in the way that Poch did he seems to prefer Experience.

I agree 100% with everything you write mate! Except for that last sentence: Poch giving youth a chance is a myth. After he had set his team and starting 11-13, he didn’t give anyone much of a glimpse.

I've never heard of him, which given that when a youth player is able to tie up his own boot laces our fans start to hype their potential, suggests he's probably shit anyway.
