This intrigues me - I thought he was a little unproductive as was Dembele the ball always tends go sideways or backward.

Just shows how people see different things looking at the same picture.

I think that as a player he's going to take time to adjust and he's still raw. As a presence however, he's going to scare opposition players and - because he seems surprisingly adept at making little jinking runs and really working the channels - he's going to pull and draw players and create space.

I'm a big Benny fan but I also think Rose given time will do an even better job. Its whether he can be given the time. Some sloppy defending today but there's enough for me to give him a chance. He could be a great 'attacking' fullback as with many these days and I agree defending can be suspect.

Rose has been playing LB for over a year now and his defensive reading of a game is still shit. He gets caught out of posistion so many times and he has to lunge into tackles because of that, he is a red card waiting to happn.

One thing that I found odd was that within a couple of minutes of Soldado scoring his first goal the Jermain Defoe chants started up. Why can't we sing about the players on the pitch?

His face popped up on the screens for a few seconds, that's what started it, but then again i was sat in front of two guys who tried in vane to start songs for everyone from AVB to the tea lady - they even rolled out a bit of Nicola Berti's song at one point

It's the 'stand up if you hate arsenal' that gets me.. I'm sat at white Hart Lane so I'm obviously not an arsenal lover, and I'm watching Spurs Vs Espanyol... So why are we wasting time and voices singing about those scum bags when they aren't even here?! Just annoys me. I get it, gets people into it, singing, standing whatever... But surely the same would be achieved by 'stand up if you live tottenham'?

As i say, any atmosphere is good but why sing about the gooners at our ground when they aren't even here?!

P. S sorry mate, not aimed at you as such but you posted about chanting so thought I'd tack my grievance on to your post!

Dembele is class his dribbles opens space and has the opponents on the back foot.
Z Fryers looked far more comfortable and composed next to an experienced defender
Chadli I don't know what to make of him I feel his gonna take longer to find his true game.
Rose was sloppy but there was evidence he could become a sound left back.
Townsend impressive at pace and being direct when slowed down and given time to think his still learning.
Nice to see Sandro and Kaboul back.
Paulinho n Soldado look soild.

I really love Townsend, but I think it is a fair comment. He could be an impact sub in PL and a starting XI in EL.

This was Chadli's first game for us and it was a friendly. The conclusions some people are making are frankly risible. It was a pre-season friendly and therein lies the clue.

After getting back from the game I can't help but feel we're still a few weeks behind in our preperations for the new season. Not that I'm worried mind, afterall it's a marathan not a sprint. Of course we could still get results early on just because of the quality we have but it will take time to get going this season.

A big reason for that is the injuries we've had which have really disrupted our preperations for the new season. It was great to see Kaboul get 45 minutes under his belt and Sandro 30 minutes. They're slowly getting back now, Holtby has had no pre-season, Bale only played against Swindon and Vertonghen is still a week or so away. They will need a bit more time to get on form, more so Kaboul and Sandro.

The new lads looked good for their debuts. There were the typical moments where they weren't on the same page as eachother and the new team mates as is to be expected. Soldado showed some lovely touches though and I love his hunger to get to the ball, never just waiting for the ball to arrive. Paulinho is very physical in midfield and you can see he likes to look for those through balls. He will need to learn not to dwell on the ball too much in England though. Chadli has really good footwork and few tricks up his sleeve. I thought he worked well with Rose going forward and you can see his preference to come infield and take up central positions.

I look forward to seeing those 3 adapt to our play and the English game. They all look like they have the ability to perform at this level and will just need a bit of time to settle. As for the current crop it was ok, Fryers did a decent job next to Dawson, Rose looked strong going forward and Sigurdson was aguably our man of the match in his prefered central position. I jus twish he had the confidence to shoot a bit more. All in all it was a good warmup game but could really do with a couple more weeks preperation. It is what it is though and we've certainly got the individual talent to beat the likes of Palace and Swansea to start the season well. Whatever the start though we have an exciting squad and I'm very much looking forward to the season ahead.

I must of been watching a different game from quite a few because I thought he was excellent in the first half.

Chadli showed skill, intelligence and inventiveness. I'm delighted with that. Everything else will come.

Paulinho is a quick thinking player it seems and he has pace. He takes risks with his passing but he's very cutting when they come off. Delighted.

Soldado we know will score goals given chances. What we didn't know was that we'd signed the most intelligent striker seem at the lane since Berba. Love him.

Dembele controlled the game, how can anyone not see that.

Siggurdsson seemed as confident and commanding as ever, long may it continue.

Lennon actually showed for the ball and took people on. Looks threatening.

Walker bombed forward well and seemed generally solid defensively, usual level of effort too.

Dawson made a lot of important blocks dr crosses coming from our left.

Fryers was the best I've seen him, he's quick and he gets stuck in. Needs positional schooling but it'll come.

Rose put in two great crosses, all she's was poor and all their play was on his side. We've lost the plot of this guy is replacing Ekotto.

Lloris was his usual beautiful self.

All very good first half, disjointed second where only highlights were returns for the beast and Kaboul, as well as a decent Townsend cameo. Work in progress which will be made easier once our talisman and best player is thrown into the equation.

What's happened to the likes of Ade and BAE? Are they injured or primed to sell? We need players who know each other for the first few games

almost forgot how good eunice was. looked so composed as a defender, i honestly will rate him above jan if he gets back to his old self.

also sandro played a sweet cross field pass to townsend when he was surrounde by a flock of players. the only thing holding him back from being a world class player is his passing.

You know what it is with Siggy that won't make him a great player for us.....Determination! He lacks it a lot and that affects his ability to put a stamp on games. Vdv had bucket loads of it and it easier for him to influence game in the manner that he did.

You can have all the confidence in the world but without enough determination you won't ever dominate games like his ability should allow him to. You could also say that his decision making is not that great either. Just my opinion.

I think it's the opposite problem. Loads of determination, not enough confidence.

Sig will soon shed the fear and will be a great player for us this season.

Mate, so true! It's embarrassing. The striker we have been wanting for years and then to not be chanting HIS name for first goal at the lane. It is, well, many things but just wrong.

yeah, it is the easy option to chant , like Defoe yido. I cant believe we cant come up with some new decent songs, it's been the same since I was a kid. I love the classics but how can fans be so unresponsive and unenthusiastic to new chants?
I don't get it, why aren't there new chants each season? Hell, it's not rocket science. We have this interweb thing, it should be rampant.
