I was thinking that, the guy gets in great positions but no sense of where he is in relation to the goal when finishing. No composure.

Think memories of that ankle injury when scoring last season put Mason off there.

He missed a lot of chances of that type prior to that injury. Think it's just a weakness in his game. Our best CM at making those driving off the ball runs to get into a position, but never seems to put them in the net.

I've seen very little evidence this preseason that Mason is anywhere near recapturing his form of 2014-2015. If we go into the season with him as the primary backup for Dembele it will be our undoing.

This is true. Just watching that particular chance and the way the keeper was coming out at him, just got the sense he wasn't fully committed to taking it.
