Yeah, someone posted up the offside rule saying as long as he isn't trying to play the ball, the foul is called.

But Kane and 1 or 2 other players were off at the free kick.
Even if Kane is trying to play the ball (which he definitely is), the rule states that if the foul occurs before the ball reaches the offside player, it is correct to call the foul and not the offside.

So the pen was the right call

No I'm saying he's a much better player than people are currently making out.
He's just having a shit season...Sissoko had 2 of them, nothing to do with settling in, just a question of form and confidence.

I agree he's better than he's been this season. Id rather have someone better still for first choice RB, tho.

That performance was shite. He/they need to figure their shit out because if we play like that against both City and Pool we'll get our lunch handed to us on a plate.

Fuck all to do with the game.

I've always found that a weird little saying. It's supposed to be negative, but how else would anyone want their lunch/dinner handed to them?

You only become offside when you play or effect the ball somehow. Kane was fouled before the offside offence took place (in fact he never touched the ball) according to the rule posted earlier.

See that's a reasonable argument...the problem is Aurier really doesn't seem to be cutting it either.
Aurier seems a head case to me, TBH. All the ability in the world but who knows what the fuck he's thinking about out there?

Anyone worrying about Trippier today needs to take a good long look at themselves in the mirror and when. they are done, they need to go find another mirror and stand looking at themselves in that one for twenty minutes too.

There's absolutely nothing, nothing at all about Trippier playing today that would change seeing us yet again persistently playing the ball across the back four and into midfield, back into the back four again and finally back to Hugo to go long. Constantly getting into the opponents half and going backwards when facing front. Constantly pinging it from left to right then back one, right to left, forward one, back two. All of this done in a slow laborious fashion. Slow passing, poor passing, all the while putting ourselves under pressure. No imagination, guile, speed of thought just a ponderous going through the motions from back to front, throughout the entire team. barely a chance treated really yet we know these players are capable of SO much better............

This isn't so much about the quality of Trippier, Eriksen or whoever else we decide to scape this week. It isn't about that at all. There are bigger problems than that to worry about.

All of these players have shown us their quality time after time, they are a good team, they are good players. Kieran fucking Trippier is the least of our problems, if that's what you got out of today get back to that bastard mirror and come back when the penny drops. It's like the perfect storm, recovery after the World Cup, injuries, the resulting demands on the squad, form, this, that, the other but one thing (IMO) stands out.

We've been getting away with it and we're reaping what we sowed in the summer when Levy and Pochettino decided we didn't need to sign any players. There's nobody out there good enough? Don't make me laugh.

feels like a defeat to me, we didn't even play well for 10 minutes in the entire 90, when we got the lucky penalty thought we might push on but we didn't create anything after being gifted a goal. we just don't play any entertaining football, Eriksen awful all game, struggle to think of a game when hes played worse than he was today

Agreed, what has happened to the team that smashed 6 or 7 away at Leicester and Hull home 18 months ago. Not exactly moving forwards. We used to okay some of the best football in the division. We’re looking more like AVB recently

Although as he is being heavily debated, you'd wonder what exactly he did so wrong today to still be the fucking topic for some? He was better than most of them today tbh.

He was decent on Wednesday too, but is getting heaps of shite for the own goal from a load who choose to ignore the rest of the performance.

I don’t think anyone is under any illusion. If we stand still we will fall behind as if you take a look at the bench even compared to the likes of Woolwich we are down to the bare bones now. If we make top4 it will be massive achiecement for which everyone at the club deserves huge credit.
This is a huge summer for our club -2/3 new top class players are required and the nearly boys like Lamela etc need to be bombed out or we risk falling further behind.
Interesting days ahead........

Yeah, it's certainly a pattern.

I can't remember the last game we haven't had to change shape.

That says a lot in and of itself.

Gotta remember he's still a young manager, but, as you say, these issues are obvious.

Yep. I mean how many times do we go in at HT and think well that felt like a waste of a half as we have most of the ball but do so little with it. He is a young manager but youth is still no excuse for what I feel is overly-stubbornness a lot of the time.

As annoying as Mcmanaman can be, in commentary he was echoing my every thoughts.
"Why have they not changed anything"
"they don't need 3 at the back"
"it's too slow, they're just passing side to side and backwards"
"there's no movement and no one running in behind"
"Emery is the one making the offensive changes when it's Spurs who need to change".

I'm just sick of Pochettino being somewhat content with what he's seeing on the pitch. And I know that can sound equally ridiculous as it can legitimate because of where we stand in the league but regardless, a lot of the time the football is too slow and predictable and we would rather watch ourselves play like so and create nothing than try to be proactive and make changes to rectify things and that's what can be really annoying.

Oh and can this back 3 bullshit fuck the fuck off!!

Perhaps Poch is doing that because we are bereft of options in the midfield. It lets us work the flanks better. We could revert to a back 4 but with Sissoko/Wanyama or Sissoko/Winks were are still going to struggle playing through the middle against better teams. Also means he has to come up with one less midfielder that is fit. But thats just a guess.

Yeah.

The #1 problem with 3 at the back is it ends up with us being ponderous an predictable in our approach play.
