Poch and Verts comments

“Maybe it is the best [from one of my players],” said Pochettino. “Probably the best. Only a player with his skill can score like the goal he scored today. I never show emotion even with a goal like that. I will enjoy it at home in my bed.”

The Tottenham manager then joked: “One time I scored one like that. You can find it on YouTube, maybe. It was a great goal, I am happy for him and it helped us get the three points.”

Lamela’s team-mates were blown away by the finish. Jan Vertonghen tweeted: “I was stunned, for two minutes I was just thinking about that goal… I think the Puskas award [best goal of the year] is already his. 100% best goal I’ve seen live. I’ve seen a lot of YouTube clips but I’ve never seen a goal like it.”

Did ITV have us as a flat 4-4-2? The UEFA international feed did. Yet our website had us 4-2-3-1. Not sure who was wrong.

We are being undone by pace. But that was the 1st time that back 4 played together.
MoPo rightly unhappy with the amount of times we were exposed. Angry Lloris sent off because of defenders not doing their job.

Yeah i was glad to see pochs face he wasnt happy throughout i trust him to sort it.

Shame it won't be shown on Soccer AM as Sky Sports don't do Europa League goals. Top goal, absolute class. So proud a Spurs player did it, so we can rave about it for the rest of our lives!

1-A moment of audacious and beautiful magic from Lamela.

2-A celebration of the real big man in the sky, Sir Bill.

3-The continued emergence and the real taking to of 'one of our own', Harry Kane.

These wonderful moments, when not caught up in the Sky Champions League farce, are the reason why we fell in love with football.

Hopefully it sparks the reconnect and the romance of being a Spurs fan for many.

Coys.

His English is still pretty basic, but his demeanour said it all.

He was basically happy with result, but pissed off at the way we played and particularly with the Lloris sending off. Reading between the lines, he's becoming a bit fed up with Lloris having to save us all the time.

Have to say it's pleasing that we have a manager who has such exacting standards. Going into the dressing room after a 5-1 victory and laying into the players for the defensive performance is just the sort of thing a Fergie, Mourinho or Clough would do.

I'm not suggesting he's in their class, but that's exactly the attitude we have to have as a club to be successful.

Agree with this and happy that poch is unhappywith the sloppy casual defending which has been going on for too long imo.
As you say the best managers demand more and wont accept anything less even our own Sir Bill would get pissed off if we won but didnt achieve it in the style he wanted.
The only thing that bugs me so far is i was hoping to see än improvement in better defending once poch took over as if this is being worked on in training you normally can see a change in a few weeks like pulis when he Took over palace last year within a couple of weeks they were knocking out clean sheets for fun,so was rather hoping to see something similar.
But maybe they are not working on it as much as we think or maybe constantly changing the back four dont help but Im sure he will get it looking at his face.

They'll get away with it by showing a clip from someone filming their tv or something.

I think this is the main problem imo. Defence is the one area where too much change isn't good. When Fergie first began the concept of squad rotation in the PL, the main players he change were his forwards. He very rarely changed the back line and if he did it was one or two max.

The back five is a unit that needs working on and I'm not sure we've seen the same back five two games in a row so far this season.

It's also the reason why we shouldn't buy any more defenders in Jan. We've bought three already last window. Time to just get on the training ground.

If we strengthen it has to be a CF and wide player. Preferably someone with pace and dynamism.

We nay have been clinical last night, but that's been the exception so far this season.

Yes We need more pace in the team to unsettle the opposition although i can see us bringing in another defender if he still aint happy with performance.
