You're probably right today but that has only really increased the last few years. Certainly with Alison and Ederson in the league now. It would have made sense around the time where the defence was ageing to rebuild back there. Use that as an opportunity to bring in another keeper. We did seem to try it with Pau Lopez around 2016 when he was 24. Then we ended up keeping Lloris too long and as the emphasis on playing from the back increased he got worse. I think back when Poch came in teams didn't really press high and aggressive. He really introduced that style and then Pep and Klopp both had their own pressing game. Now it seems a lot of teams press well in attack and a goalkeeper needs to be a lot calmer. I didn't think it mattered under the peak Poch era as we were the ones pressing high. It was more the counter attacks we had to deal with while the defence were up to the half way line. As the league evolved was when Lloris struggled more. Although to be fair we switched to this ultra defensive game where we started to invite pressure too. So it's just a matter of recognising when a player doesn't fit a manager like with Vicario coming in under Ange because we need to play from the back more.Yeah, I don't expect many people to agree with me on Lloris, but that's how I see it. You'll never see a top possession side going for big trophies with a keeper as poor as he was with his feet and a propensity to make big errors.
