The fans were a joke this evening. All we could hear was PSV. And I don't want to hear: "the players didn't give the fans anything to cheer about."

I didn't think the atmosphere at wembley was anything special. Only about 5 blocks at White Hart Lane ever sing. We didn't sell out tonight and that waiting list can soon dissolve overnight.

Where were you sitting GL? I was West Stand block 5 and the Park Lane and Shelf were giving it plenty early doors. Paxton got a few chants in too.

But the team needs to give the fans something to cheer about, and that was in tragically short supply tonight.

I was sitting on my arm chair sir, and unfortunately, the fans sang more before the match then during.

I will be there on Sunday, where I know that our fans will not lets us down.

I don't think we're all that different to supporters of clubs like West Brom or Nottingham Forest that have had their glory days in the past but have now faded.

The difference with Spurs is we have not dropped out of the Top Flight in many, many seasons and have popped up with the odd cup final and occassional cup win since '84. This has helped us hang on to our fans I think. Being a London club helps too as there are always enough people around to fill a stadium!

Having said that though, I do happen to think the average Spur is a good looking, well rounded, intelligent football fan with exceptional taste.
You weren't stood next to the geezers I was stood next to in the Bell & Hare then!

our fans are a bunch of fickle monkeys, looking into spurs chat on a daily basis will show you that

This is a topic ive often voiced my opinions of over the past few years. I know as a football club we have a very good past history & tradition of playing entertaining football plus winning cup competitions, yet since 1991 we have only won 2 cups & had extremely poor final standings in the league table.

Back when i was a kid growing up, Spurs won the FA Cup 1981 & 1982 plus the UEFA Cup in 1984, a good reason to want to back a winning team back in those days. Thats why considering our dismal last 16 years the new generation have had very little good reason to follow Spurs in comparisson of other so-called 'Glory Hunters'.

Tottenham football fans are 'REAL' football supporters. They love the club they support & have waited years for the kind of satisfaction and joy shared at Wembley last week. We are no normal football supporters, we dont follow Liverpool one year, then Arsenal the next and then Chelsea and so on ...

When you take a look at other clubs, big clubs, their following are almost fake & plastic. Look at the atmosphere we created at Wembley last week ?? The FA wish they could get that for an England international ?? Do you think you'd see that in a Manu v Chelsea FA Cup Final ??

No, of course you wont. I'm not saying the other clubs dont have 'REAL' football fans, but they dont have the percentages like we do. Since my son was born in 1997, all he's had in his face when you go shopping is Manu, Arsenal, Chelsea & Liverpool shirts in every sport shop going.

Try looking for the Spurs shirts ?? They either dont stock them, or some scummy Gooner staff has made sure they are well out of view. But my son loves Spurs, just like his dad, & i'm sure there are many more of us out there with Tottenham families too. So i'd just like to salute all of my fellow Tottenham fans & say well done - your one in a million !
Iagree with all of that :clap:

The fans were a joke this evening. All we could hear was PSV. And I don't want to hear: "the players didn't give the fans anything to cheer about."

All I could hear from the 3 people behind me were "he's shit, get him off!" and variations on the theme...

At one point after Jenas put a poor cross in there was "he's shit, O'Hara should take them", so when O'Hara dutifully stepped up and overhit one "he's shit, what's he doing taking free kicks!?"

Any time anyone either passed the ball backwards or sideways, regardless of how many opposition players pressurising him there was a shower of flak, and it seems Berbatov and Keane are the only players allowed to try anything and have it not come off... Of course, every other player is expected to, but shouted at the moment they do anything other than straight forward that doesn't work...

I dread to think what will happen if we make the Champions League and play teams of PSV's ilk and better as there were lots of people expecting us to steamroller 'these mugs'...

it's so depressing isn't it nightgoat - do people not understand some of these 'johny foreigners' can actually play a bit of football - I'm so glad I wasn't there last night - I know just how soul-destroying the Lane can be on games like these

Did you hear the boos at the end of the PSV game?

PSV fans got it right when they said we only sing when we're winning!

As much as I hate to say it, true football fans don't support clubs like ours in general, they support lower league clubs who generally embarass premiership supporters when it comes to supporting their team.

OR when were playing games we really want to win, we were outsinging the Chelsea fans when we went behind, against Sevillia we sang well, and we always do against the Ars*

When I go to other clubs fourms I like the fact that the fans always moan about their players game etc. and think their the only ones theat do it, yet again there have been brilliant examples of just that on this fourm

good point N10 :)

As I keep going on - what the hell do Spurs fans have to complain about (ok - we all enjoy a moan now and then) , but the moaning whinging lot that congregate at the Lane (obviously not all spurs fans - but a sizeable proportion) for most of the season - and the OTT negativity on so many websites - WTF?

we've won major trophies 6 decades in a row - (only Man U match that) - we're ever presnts in world football's new 'holy grail' (or is that cash cow?) the all conquering premier league

one season out of the the top flight in most fans' lifetime -

privileged during that time to have witnessed so many great players and matches - yet we hear about 'long suffering' spurs fans

what about port vale grimsby yeovil ipswich exeter west ham norwich sheff wed newcastle darlington york aldershot leeds forest - surely they have all suffered much worse - I could list plenty more

Erm, technically that would make us number about 6000 worldwide, only 60.5 in the UK. Just thought you'd want to get your godamned facts right. The sheer ignorance of some people really astounds me.

All true, of course. But a high-ranking manager at a company doesn't think, "God, I'm lucky to be here," he thinks, "Why aren't I CEO? I know a way I can make that happen…"

We are not genetically programmed to be satisfied. It's why captialism flourishes, because people have a basic need to always look for something else to fill a hole, with what it was they've acquired to fill the last hole not filling the hole at all.

People, on a fundamental level, don't want to be happy. They want things to be better, whatever 'better' is. And 'better' is completely relative dependent on your context. So whinging, moaning and looking to go one above what we've done before is what keeps us going, otherwise we'd all be sitting in a corner somewhere thinking, "This is it," razorblades in hand.

I'm sure Spurs Community has saved a lot of lives

nice post GP :) take your points - however in some companies at least if you spent a considerable part of your life moaning about the company - chances are you won't progress- in general 'positive people' tend to be more successful in life and I'm sure Spurs would be more successful if people actually cheered and supported the team much more than what they do

so come on you negatives - enjoy life a little more - we're Spurs - we've won a trophy (again) - we've got Berbatov in our team - he might not be here much longer - enjoy it now- and more positive happy clappy stuff of that ilk - :)
