Tottenham Hotspur have been keeping a close eye on the development of Blackburn Rovers midfielder Adam Wharton this season.

Joining the race. Or keeping an eye on. Usain Bolt does more than watch, presumablyOh he could be the next Phil Jones . Can’t remember what FOOTBALL MANAGER it was but the game dubbed Phil the next Ledley King.
I suspect Blackburn can't wait to do business with us after the Ashley Phillips move.
We only paid them about £2m for one of their best young prospects.Did we do something wrong on that one then? I thought there was some sort of clause that we paid for him.

We offered 4, they wanted 6, his release clause was 5.It was in his contract though as far as I know.
Legally, no.Did we do something wrong on that one then? I thought there was some sort of clause that we paid for him.
Legally, no.
Yes and no.From what I read, there was a release price in his contract. We agreed to pay it and then they wanted more.
Seems a pretty stupid way to behave if we actually want to do business with Blackburn at any future date. But then again I get the sense that Levy's way of doing business must have pissed off quite a few clubs over the years. I wonder if any of that has caught up with him. (Not a question!)Yes and no.
We offered more before the release clause kicked in because there were other clubs interested. We got permission to speak to him because we were close to the fee they wanted and still negotiating(this is normal btw). We then convinced him we were the best choice and he decided he was only going to come to us. The other clubs then moved on and we then sat on it until his clause kicked in and paid less than half of what we were originally offering.
Was all above board but snide as fuck at the same time. Blackburn were pissed to say the least.
Are you telling me that if any other club chairman saw the opportunity to save millions of pounds, they wouldn't take it?? The worst thing that would happen is that Blackburn Rovers or other club owners might be annoyed? I'm sure it happens all the time & worse with all clubs.Seems a pretty stupid way to behave if we actually want to do business with Blackburn at any future date. I've seen it all in business. Sometimes one company will screw over another and they all just chalk it up as business. But I've also seen plenty of times where the people screwed over make sure it doesn't happen again, either by not doing business next time or by playing hardball. Are you telling me that if any other club chairman saw the opportunity to save millions of pounds, they wouldn't take it?? The Venkys probably realised they could do nothing about it, and whilst irked, didn't lose sleep over something they can't affect.Re Wharton , who now negotiates Munn or Levy ?
The article actually says Spurs and Blackburn are on good terms , so are we or have we upset them ?
Oh Mr Levy you are so naughtyYes and no.
