Yes i agree, i do think that bent has to learn to adapt his game to our style of play,

Our style of play? It's not like he's a spaniard playing in the premiership for the first time! Our style of play isn't the issue, he almost never gets a good ball from the midfield. The only thing we need to do is tell Lennon and Malbranque to stop ignoring him as they've done in the past. Bent is making some good runs and taking up good positions all he needs is a pass for him to create a chance.

Of course he needs a bit of confidence too, he's a bit reluctant to shoot.

Bent does have different style of play though. He's used to being a lone frontman, with the ball played in front of him, running directly at goal. Whereas Keano and Berbs are both great at holding the ball up, waiting for other players to join in the attack. From what I've seen so far, Bent has been rubbish at holding up the ball.

I think we need more options up front, not in terms of players, but in terms of the style of play. At times we're a bit like Arsenal last season, trying to walk the ball into the net with intricate passing. We do need a plan B, and Bent as a lone frontman running onto longer balls might do the trick.

I think that Bent will get more chances now. As for other fringe players I think that it depends on when the next game is. As we have the PSV game in the week I think some fringe players may get a game at Birmingham but if we don't have a UEFA game I don't see the point of resting players just for the sake of it (Rafa at Liverpool)

Bent needs to play in proper games.

he's played against derby where we turned up thinking we were going to walk it & against slavia where none of the rest of the team turned up. I'd like to see him play Saturday, with THUDD in the centre & Berbatov next to him.

Against Slavia, I thought he looked pretty good with Berba. He won the majority of high balls and knock on's and I think those 2 can work well.

I personally think both Keano and Berbatov need a rest so I would go bent (playing berba role) with Taarabt (playing the keano role) looking for knock down's and flick on's.

Also, If Gilberto is fit, I can't see why he can't play Left Midfield and then push Steed 'in-behind' bent in the hole and play 1 up front in Darren. This way we can have both Lennon and Gilberto running the wings and offering high balls in for bent. Anything around the box can be sniffed out by Jenas and Steeeeed. Sounds good to me anyway

Depends in the opposition though I guess.....

Are you taking the p*ss??? 'Pretty Good' against Slavia???
He was awful against Slavia! To be fair the whole team was pretty shite that night but Bent was crap.

I agree he needs a run in the team and then the goals will come. He was scoring for fun at Charlton and they were a shambles!!

You probably need to take your blinkers off a bit mate. A crap perfomance by Spurs with Bent being one of the few pluses for us that night. He was winning the high balls, running into good positions (but ignored by the lack of service from the md) and was unlucky not to score.

bent needs a good 3 or 4 games to get stuck in, and i agree that the league should be his chance. it's not like we are throwing on a kid with a dodgy attitude from our under 16s, darren bent is a quality premiership striker.

sure, i think we're a laughing stock for his price tag, but he is still good.

Hit the bar twice, was unlucky, made many good runs & was more active than Berbatov that night.

Aye, if Bent doesn't start getting more games and goals for us soon, I don't think he ever will. I think we'll keep him past the Summer window regardless of how he performs for the rest of the season, but If he doesn't pull the finger out, he could be gone next January.

While I feel we should play Bent and one or two of the fringe players in the last few games we still have to climb the league. We need to know if Bent is going to be any good to us next season and the only way we can know that is if he shows more then he has up to now.

I don't think any other striker would have done better given the circumstances.

we've already berated Mido, Defoe & Bent for not doing the business when they're not getting a run, all proven goalscorers I might add.

Yes we should throw in Bent a little more given the right circumstances.

What I find most strange is that some people on here reckon that the job is done for this season and we can now relax and enjoy it. All I will say is I fucking hope the players don't have the same attitude or we will not win many games between now and the end of the season.

Thankfully I doubt Ramos is the type of man to allow the above to happen so it should all be ok.

No, I don't understand that either. Another fifth place is probably beyond us, but if we put in a finish like last season's sixth or seventh is still very much on.

'To Dare Is To Do'; 'It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we of Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory'; 'Faint heart never won fair lady'; 'Tora! Tora! Tora!'; 'Banzai!'; 'Geronimo!'.

I think that's enough inspiring quotes for now.

Would be amazing to finish as high as possible, but wouldn´t you prefer all our best players fit and well rested as possible for each UEFA cup game at the expense for a couple of league positions?

We have a very good shout of winning 2 cups this season. When did that last happen? I would say that would constitute an enormous season (which in December looked unlikely)

Last season?

If you slacken off in any area of endeavour and decide to settle for second-best, chances are you'll end up with third-best. Or fourth-best. Sure, there's a risk involved, but players can as easily pick up an injury in training as in a game. Sure, no-one will remember who came 10th or 6th in the league (and the financial reward is relatively negligible), and we've already qualified for Europe, but we simply cannot afford to lose momentum or concentration.

Benitez' Liverpool are a perfect example of what happens when you play cautious. It seems that everything else is subordinate to CL success, and this season a side that really should be challenging for the Premiership title is going to be hard-pressed to qualify for the CL via the league.

If we can overhaul the Spammers, Blackeye, Pompey and City—maybe Villa too—from our present position it will be a fantastic achievement, a whopping psychological boost, and a warning to all; we'll have laid down a marker for next season. I'm positive that can be done without compromising our chances in the UEFA Cup.

Bent certainly needs and deserves the remaining games to prove a point to the idiots who seem intent on writing him off as the new Rasiak, but playing seriously weakened sides seems like fantasy land to me, and a potentially very dangerous game.
