Time for Bent?

With European football confirmed and the UEFA cup now our priority, maybe it's time to use the squad a little more in league games. Of course it's still vital to maintain our momentum and do our best to climb the table, but it might be the perfect time to give Bent an extended run. We've got a relatively easy half dozen games coming up and with a little less pressure on him he might start to show what he can do. He should be champing at the bit to play and we can use him to alternate Berbs an Keano to give them a breather.

Yes i agree, i do think that bent has to learn to adapt his game to our style of play, so a decent run would be of good use to him. Saying that i thought he played well against Prague.

Is Keane out for the Brum game?

He'll get a run at some point because Berba n Keane can't play every single game, he needs a goal asap, I hope everything works out.

bent, boateng, o'hara, gunter, gilberto, Kaboul Taraabt and any young up and comings in the squad should be all used now much more. Why not use these games to blood as many young'uns as possible, and also to give opotunities for the other squad members who havent stood out yet.

I don't think I speak for myself when I say I enjoy a good session of Bent time.

He could teleport us up the league with his goals. I have a good feeling about him in a Spurs shirt. :-D

If we don't use Darren Bent regularly until the end of the season then we should assume he won't be around next season.
That's the message I would take anyway and I suspect Bent would too.

I think Ramos is clued up when it comes to the youngsters and i think he will chuck some into the first team now we have UEFA Cup football.

Bent needs a goal though i think he will get a start against Brum as Ramos will have one eye on the PSV game next week

just cos we have allready qualified for europe dosent mean we should take our foot of the gas, every place in the league is worth an extra 500k to the one below, i agree we should play a few fringers, but not to the detriment (if thats spelt right or even a word) of the team

It is NEVER time to play Darren Bent.

Are we not looking to win games?

Yes DefoesApprentice, I mean The Apprentice.

He's hardly had a chance to shine, and I know you favour the sarcastic route of posting - of which I'm a fan - but the lad hasn't had a chance. He's still scored 5 goals and I believe if he gets something of a run, or at least some extended periods of play he'll score some crucial goals, as he has done throughout has career.

I do think it's time for Bent to shine. I also think that he's looked fairly awful whether paired with Keane or Berbatov. So, I'd suggest that in certain games we rest both K and B and play him as a lone frontman with an advanced midfielder supporting (Lennon? Tarabbt?). It's how he played at Charlton, and it might work. Can't be much worse than his recent displays.

Spurs need him to score a few if he's staying or even going. If he stays so he gets confidence for next year, or if he goes so that west ham pay close to what we did!

Against Slavia, I thought he looked pretty good with Berba. He won the majority of high balls and knock on's and I think those 2 can work well.

I personally think both Keano and Berbatov need a rest so I would go bent (playing berba role) with Taarabt (playing the keano role) looking for knock down's and flick on's.

Also, If Gilberto is fit, I can't see why he can't play Left Midfield and then push Steed 'in-behind' bent in the hole and play 1 up front in Darren. This way we can have both Lennon and Gilberto running the wings and offering high balls in for bent. Anything around the box can be sniffed out by Jenas and Steeeeed. Sounds good to me anyway

Depends in the opposition though I guess.....

OK guilty your honour. Still smarting from the shipping out of ShiftnShoot. To be replaced by this mere imposter.

Over time I may learn to feel some warm, tingly sensations for Bent.

Maybe you could then change your name to Bentsapprentice.
Whatd'ya reckon?:)

I'd like to see Tommy Huddlestone with Bent, I can just see him threading those passes through for Darren to run onto a la Murphy only better.

I agree , and particularly not until we get those 40 points .

Berbatov and Keane could quite easily both sustain injuries .

Best not to even think about our sicknote centrebacks .
