I hear you but I just can't see what the better option was right here and now.
We simply do not have the time mess about and have a chance of salvaging our season with a degree of continuity. Plus nobody decent is available right now.
I think Levy knows this and has found a middle ground, appeased Sherwood with 18 months but with a speed-dial ready for De Boer and Van Gaal in the summer, in case.

[I appreciate the mods appear not to like Sherwood so if that's a facet then fair enough]
Haha. I'm not sure what the other mods have been saying but maybe we are too sensible for own own good

Very dissapointed with this i must admit, however he is our new leader and we have to get behind him. I only hope that the fans give him more support then some did when AVB got the job.

I have a theory regarding the 2014/2015 business.

Chelsea were heavily criticised for announcing Benitez as "interim manager", with people saying that players didn't care as there would be a new manager next season etc.

I think Sherwood is still being given the remainder of the season to prove himself. If he doesn't do well, I am sure he will still be gone and a new man will come in. It is just trying to create an illusion that we have some stability and are not a managerless club.

Would have to agree, if Players don't think he is in for the long run then they probably won't take him or the task at hand very seriously. Knowing a manager is a short term option or is going to be out of a job in the near future is toxic.

But, I have very little expectations now for this season.

Played 2, Lost 1, won 1 = 50% win ratio. The highest win rate of any Spurs manager since 1882.

How could Levy not give him the job permanently?
We have 5 managers with a 50%+ win ratio.

Frank Brettell 58.73
Arthur Turner 55.10
André Villas-Boas 55.00
John Cameron 51.93
David Pleat (1) 50.42

I'm not overwhelmed with his appointment, but he could surprise many.

I'm not sure who people thought we could appoint instead at this time.

Re guarding not being able to attract players. If he does well next two seasons we will have pulling power it's not like we need to sign any players short term, (prob best if we don't sign anyone) we have talented youth coming out of everywhere we just need a manager to play them. A massive squad we only need a center back to cover for kaboul.

I understand he hasn't got all his badges, and as from appointment he has a certain time to get them.

Anybody know how long that is.

I predict he will get no slack cut at all, I haven't spoken to a single fan who wanted him to get the job beyond the 'everything is beautiful' brigade on here.
First dodgy result and it will begin

In his first premiership game he won away to a time half side, got Adebayor firing, introduced a youth team player to great effect and we scored 3 for the first time this season.

Its not the worst start is it.

Hope he has a 'plan B' for Utd/Arsenal games coming up though..
