"War chest".

"War chest".
The right manager might. Half of SC is probably running scared that Levy will give the job to another ill qualified novice to cut his teeth on.
United would, I imagine play a youth team. I wouldn't blame them although it does devalue an already devalued tournament. After such high hopes at the start of the season, then the waiting for the players to gel, then the debacle of Dim in charge, after so many years of promises I find myself in the strange position of not really caring. Defeated, frustrated yes, and if there is any chance that Dim will be in charge next year all hope will be gone.
Am I also wrong in hoping that we don't get Europa league next year as it seems to screw any English club in it.Both Liverpool and Everton have benefitted by having no distractions and it would do United no good if they get it instead of us. A year just to concentrate on PL and home trophies might just be what we need.
Yeah, you're right. I didn't want to upset the BSoDLWould have thought that half is close to a whole, buddy.
Tino is exactly that, i'm far from convinced he is the solution to our problems. LVG would have been ideal to sort the ego's out of our wannabes, yes Danny fucking Rose I'm looking at you, but it seems we have missed the boat with him. After that I really am struggling to think of a candidate that would demand instant respect.....The right manager might. We have an excellent squad that is easily at the top 4 level. We need to buy a starting LB, LW, and perhaps a CB. Fortunately we did our spending last window and they have had a year to acclimatize now.
We have one big priority: a top class manager. If we can get someone in who really knows what they're doing, then we can compete with the big boys. We are finishing 6th this season despite having two clowns as managers.

It's just unfortunate that the events happened at United when they did. LvG may have always intended to wait to see what jobs became available in the summer before committing. Sadly, whilst a lot of fans thought that LvG was nailed on, we were probably never more than one of his options.Tino is exactly that, i'm far from convinced he is the solution to our problems. It does sound quite funny.I know what it is I still think it's funny though.
We had George Graham, Glen Hoddle, a French guy
Oh yes, LVG. We were linked to many even more prestigious, but who did we actually get? Our managers for the past 15 years or so: George Graham, Glen Hoddle, David Pleat, Jacques Santini, Martin Jol, Juande Ramos, Harry, AVB and TS. Only Harry provided us with truly exciting football, but he was dismissed as well.
...and stick with them.Indeed. But what has any of this got to do with your original claim that we only appointed AVB and then Sherwood because we couldn't get anyone else decent?
As I said, but for the fact that Man Utd are unfortunately looking for exactly the same kind of manager that we're looking for right now, we'd be nailed on to appoint LVG. In other words, if LVG doesn't join Spurs, it won't be because of the reasons you've mentioned. It will simply be because one of the three or four biggest clubs in the world gazumped us.
Don't you worry. We will not lack for good managers wanting to join us. The only question mark is whether Levy will choose the right one.
This is precisely the approach I don't get. I just don't see how people can claim we have an excellent squad. We may be 6th but we're miles off top 4 both in terms of performance and points. Hardly any player comes out of the season in credit. Claiming a manager is going to come along and wave a magic wand is, I'm afraid, pure nonsense.
I certainly agree that next season will be much more challenging for them.Pah, Everton and Liverpool could be in for a shock next season.
For a start, Everton will have to spend an absolute fortune to stand still, that is if they can afford to buy all their loan signings. Chuck Europa League into their mix and we'll see how strong their squad is week in week out.
Same with Liverpool, they've had the luxury of playing virtually the same team every week in the PL, lets see how they cope with CL as well. Now their expectations have been raised sky high, especially if they do end up champions, next season could prove to be very interesting indeed if they struggle to balance the demands of PL/CL.
I can easily see a scenario where they've come from 7th to win the title, then slip back to 5th or 6th when the CL takes it's toll.
That's obviously (and understandably).not taking into account that they will be targeting some big summer signings. But then again at the start of the season, people (journos, opposition fans) seemed to be pretty much agreed that we had on paper a better team than Liverpool and Arsenal.
That hasn't really changed. Bar Suarez, Gerrard and maybe now Sterling, the players in are squad should be capable of going toe to toe with Liverpool. The big exception obviously is Suarez. But the reality is, on paper, if we can remember how the players in our squad can perform, that we are not far behind the teams above us. A manager who knows what he's doing can lift us to somewhere approaching the squad's potential. ... (if Danny Rose is dropped obviously)
