Yamelenko and berahino would be awsome! Add Kane to that mix and we would scare the opposition and would stop them pushing forward as much, on the break those 3 running at you would be tasty.

And likely the most expensive

But experience has value which has to be added into the overall transfer fee. If you buy British you will always pay more but to a degree there is less risk as the player is not adjusting to a new culture, language, environment etc.

I think this is what I find annoying-it gets to the crunch end of the season and every game and point is life and death in that chase for top 4 (for example), but we don't have that same attitude at the start of the season-proven by everyone saying don't worry that we don't have the players in by utd. These games are as important as the ones next spring. Just wanted our squad weakness, mainly CDM, sorted in time for Poch to work with the team preseason.
I agree with the concept - though, for me, the ManUtd match it a bit of a throw away. Getting points away at United is not critical for us to reach 70 points. Nice, but not critical.

Consider that last year we would have ended on 71 points, in 4th place, if we had been able to secure home and away wins against the bottom 5 teams - QPR, Burnley, Hull, Villa, Sunderland. We ended up with 23 out of 30 points in those games. That is not asking too much for this team.

Having said that, the most critical stretch we might face all season are the 3 games following United - Stoke, @Leicester, Everton - We need 9 points there, so the sooner we can get players in and integrated, the better.

Nothing that impressive unfortunately :(. He scored 4 against the might of Conference side Gateshead in the FA Cup. He also only scored 3 goals away from home in all competitions last season and one of those was a penalty. Flat track bully. Had years of that with Defoe. I want a striker who can score in games we are not favourite to win, not one who fills his boots against teams we would have beaten anyway.

This flat track bully did well to bag two against Chelsea, and score against Utd, Liverpool and Southampton last season...

Target wise we are looking like we can have a very very good window. Problem is we're a few weeks since Toby and haven't seemed to have gotten much further. Last week was primed for activity and nothing happened.

If we can get 1-2 in next week I think everyone will be a lot more confident again. So far looks like we keep getting stuck at deadlock on the fee...

I really just think we are waiting for Ade and Bobby to piss off. As soon as one of them signs we will make our move. Also Poch has been in the States and a bit busy to be bothered with which WF should we go for. Has he even heard of Werner?

So many snippets and names being bandied about...

... anyone else get the feeling if and when we shift Ade that all or some of these deals will all start to tumble into place.

I couldn't help thinking again about the earlier ITKs about our CM and Striker "sorted"......Then another ITK stated that we are not getting Morgan Schneiderlin and the newer name is actually "Plan A".......and very very recently about new CM, full of secrecy and then latest ITKs about getting both Werner and N'Jie and Kramer too. I know these infos/ITKs are not from the same source......so its like intelligence collection and piecing the pieces together (Intelligence collection not 100% accurate anyway). From these infos, i could not help thinking again that "sorted" means player already at the club? Dier has been experimented at CM and i'm wondering is "Plan A" actually is Alli? With the latest info that we looking to get both Werner and N'Jie, i now think maybe Chadli has "been sorted" to be the back up striker as both Werner and N'Jie predominently play LWF/ST and sometime RWF. Also recent ITKs stated that Pritchard is looked to also fill the RWF, so the LWF position will not be "congested" with Werner and N'Jie coming in?

One of the more recent ITK also stated that he is happy that the incomings/plans would see the club good for the long term......so im guessing all 3 incomings are young players that are not "shoo in" for the immediate future but rather a longer exciting project. Werner and N'Jie fit this.....maybe so does the CM incoming. Meaning JM is pushed back down the pecking order of priority as he is going to cost more. I think Kramer maybe can be gotten much cheaper than JM. With the secrecy, i will not be surprised the like of Tielemans or P-E Hojbjerg is up there with Kramer. Then comes Sven Bender and then James McCarthy. But If it comes to JM at the end of the window and still the pricing is 20 million pounds upwards, i do not see him being brought in.

So i think that the Club see this as a longer term project, which might be beneficial/exciting in 2-3 years time - If indeed Werner/N'Jie/Kramer or Tielemans or Hojbjerg comes in this transfer window. Maybe the club is ok with being 6th position for this coming season and Pushing upwards the year after and getting UCL in 2018 or when the new stadium is "operational". Interesting indeed!!! COYS!!!
In short?

The 2 against Chelsea was in their last away match of the season when Chelsea had wrapped up the title and were already on the beach. They also had Fabregas sent off in the 29th minute. Of those 4 goals you quote 2 were penalties and apart from the penalty against Liverpool all were at home. So yeah ... flat track bully.

Could it possibly be that west brom don't attack that much away from home?

I was really hoping for some movement today :cautious:

I've been pretty much in constant F5 mode since Thursday... really expected something to happen at the tail end of this week. Looks like we're pulling our usual "all talk, no action... some more talk... there's deadline day approaching... try to buy *picks name out of a hat* Robbie Keane back?!?!"
