My preference would definitely be Berahino and one of Njie/Werner - preferably the latter.

One of Bender/Kramer,

Amazing window.
Swap Njie/Werner for Yarmolenko and I think it's a winner. We need more goal threat in the left

Is it that you've just seen less of the other two than Berahino though? He's scored more goals in a tougher league, and has a fine record for the U21s. Yes, he may be too expensive, but as I said before, there is no guarantee that the other two will adapt to the PL. Werner was struggling last year in the Bundesliga, and Njie isn't nailed on for a starting place at Lyon. They are prospects, nothing more.

Sometimes we just have to trust our scouts especially as we now have Mitchell who has a great track record. Of course i've seen more of Berahino but my opinion on him isn't important as i'm not a professional scout. What I do know is that Berahino carries the 'English premium' in his price tag and we don't have to pay it because we have plenty of homegrown players in our squad.

Scouts cannot predict adaptation to any degree of certainty though, that is why PL proven players are more expensive. I just think - if as looks likely we're selling Ade and Soldado - we need someone to back Kane up who has scored goals here before.

Any word if McCarthy is still a viable option? Would much rather him as our midfield signing as he's so experienced and knows the league. This is the critical position for us, along with one or two that can potentially share the goalscoring burden with Kane (Berahino and Werner/N'jie etc.).

Again we're leaving it late though, getting that Groundhog window feeling again, which is immensely frustrating...especially given we've missed out on the manager's No.1 target (again) in Schneiderlin.

Berahino has had 1 season where he scored 14 goals in the premiership 3 of which were penalties. It's basically the same record as Chadli had last year. It's still a risk. If we wanted a sure thing proven in the premiership then we could have got Austin or Lambert (i'm not saying we should though). They are all punts it's just that Berahino is the most expensive punt.

Yet Kane has also only had 1 season in the premier league and he's apparently valued at over £40m. Berahino at circa £20m isn't expensive in today's market.

I actually think McCarthy is probably even more unlikely than one of the Germans.

ali z: talking to 4 forwards/wf and 2 dm looking to sign 2 and 1 my bet at this moment would be njie, Kramer and Werner.we identify 2/3 players for each position then see which deals can be done it is a sensible approach not having all eggs in 1 basket.
on ade holdup: Nothing to do with us.

Is he 'proven' though? I'm not sure Kane is proven just yet but here's hoping

I meant in as much as he has scored in the prem fairly regular last season and is more aware of it so wouldnt need much adjusting time.
But i back the club to get it right after weighing up all the decisions.

personally among all the targets, i like N'jie the most. he's probably the most natural LWF among all our targets. blazing pace, left foot, right foot, inside foot outside foot, finishing, dribbling, this guy has it all. if you guys watch lyon enough you guys will understand why lacazette gets those space to score goals. Of course lacazette is a good scorer, but its also because N'jie drags all the defenders away. if you guys like lacazette then you guys will like N'jie as well because they are practically in the same mold, almost perfectly interchangeable.

we must make N'jie the top target for LWF( I'll start him over chadli), then either one of werner/berahino as CF/LWF rotation option. CM wise its kramer no brainer. this is the wrong bender we are going for. only contest for kramer is krychowiak, if not i rather have JM over crocked bender

I think we've sourced farther and wider this window than ever before and have a very good set of options to fill the 2/3 places we want filled.

Don't understand the misery.

People don't want to accept our position in the food chain and that we are still building, slowly, and it will take 2/3 years to do so.

Suck it up. No gain without pain...alll kinds of gains.

ITK suggests not collapsed, just minor hitches. Didn't Adebayor's transfer to us rumble on and on also? Maybe he just doesn't like preseason training ;)

Regarding Ali Z's info, I'd prefer Kramer, but just haven't seen enough positive info to make me think it's viable. Bender, his injury situation and also the media suggestions that Tuchel isn't as keen on him makes me think he's more attainable. As for CF/WF, Njie and Werner strike me as more LWF at present, and I think we need someone capable of playing up top on their own to ease the workload on Kane from time to time. Is Berahino the answer? I'm not sure. Got to place faith in our scouting to know the answer.
Positive ITK all the same, appears things are moving along in the background. I do wonder if, despite all the suggestions incomings are not solely reliant on outgoings, if the impending (possible) departures of Ade and Soldado will see Levy and co finally pull the trigger and then incomings will be quite quick. Getting the ducks in a row first.
Ultimately Ade, Soldado and Lennon out, Kramer/Bender and two from Njie/Werner/Berahino in would be a significantly good window in my opinion.
That's not accounting for last nights ItK though, about a player not previously mentioned.... It's gonna be an eventful week ahead I feel. Previous ITK stated Pochettino wanted business concluded prior to heading out to Germany if I recall correctly.

So a few days ago Berahino was on and signing next week. AC has his balls on the line too!! Now his is 3rd down the list

We always say why cant we find the next Benteke as in a cheap player who turns out to be amazing..... Yet when we are looking at these players we have total meltdown and want to spend 20 million instead

It happens every window when we go a few days without anything happening. Although there is a lot happening. Bobby and Ade look like they are gone and we are talking to Werner, Bender, Njie and possibly Kramer and Berahino.
Lennon looks to be a deadline day grab by someone.

I am with JJ and we are all going to be happy once the window closes. So much deadwood gone/going with decent fees too. Great young players coming in too. just one experienced DM needed and I think we will obtain
