Get in! There is so much sad grumpyness on SC over Europa League. We are in dire need of a feel-good thread about Tottenham's participation in the Europe League.

There are only 69 days left until the first leg of round of 32, in other ways until we are finally home.

Bejeezers how I love Europa League. I love the possible, unseeded teams we can be drawn against. (12th of Dec).

I love the fact that the final will be played in Stockholm.

I love the dorky face of Pochettino when he has to deal with a competition he doesn't want to play in.

I love the smirk on Levy's face when the ref blows the whistle and Levy counts the price money for having advanced to the next round.

I love the pre-match music.

I love the Thursday night footie.

I love the odds of us wining the whole thing.

I love the fact that the winners get a spot in CL.

There is NO competition in Europa like Europa League.

What do you love about Europe League? How great chances do you think we have of winning?

I LOVE EUROPA LEAGUE!

It isn't necessarily that I love the Europa, I just love seeing a) Tottenham Hotspur play more football, and b) love seeing them play in Europe. Yes, I'm abundantly aware of the data suggesting the Europa to be detrimental for league play, but we should be a club above that now given the depth in the squad. Of course I'd have liked to see us progress in the CL, but I am also very well pleased that we won the match yesterday and that consequently I'll get to continue watching Spurs play more matches this season back half in Europe.

only for this season, fudge yes for 3 reasons:

1) we are out of those group stages...
2) we can still earn some gate receipts through a big-capacity Wembley no matter how shit that can be..
3) the opponents left for us to go all the way are probably the weakest we have ever seen..

so why not?

Always been an advocate of F*ck the Europa so that we stand more chance of qualifying for the Champions league, but of the 2 options, qualifying for CL and going out of the Europa at the knock out stage or getting to the final of the Europa and finishing 6th in the League which option would we be talking about more in ten years time ?

More chance of silverware and plenty more game time for Wimmer, Onomah, Trippier, CCV and other fringe players who'd likely struggle for minutes otherwise. I just hope that if we don't embarrass ourselves with weak line-ups against the likes of Dortmund as we did last season.

Prefer us to win the CL: but that option has gone.
Prefer us to win the Premiership but that's fast disappearing over the horizon.
Prefer us to finish in top three but Europa shouldn't affect that with judicious team management.
If we come fifth/sixth it won't be because of the Europa
but because of poor recruitment to properly enhance the squad.
Sissoko Janssen, N'Koudou what's all that about?
So what's new?
Go Spurs, give it a go.

Why is the draw on Monday instead of today? I thought these things were usually done on the Friday - is it too short notice for teams to send representatives and arrangements made a day after the EL matches were played and qualification sorted?

Anyway, There are still some tough teams in the cup in my opinion

Man Utd, Roma, Fiorentia, Zenit, Villareal, Schalke, Fenerbache, Lyon

We can only draw one of the teams who finished as runners up in their group right? and that excludes Man Utd (or can we also draw a group winner?)

Could see us face Anderlecht again, there;s also the possibilty of drawing one of 3 Spanish teams (Villareal, Bilbao Celta Vigo)
Other than that there's potential trips to Russia and Israel we'd probably rather avoid on a Thursday before an EPL fixture

I'd like us to draw Gent or Genk, short trip for players and fans and a tie would really should win comfortably either way

Those teams and one of the 4 "weakest" CL teams (measured by overall points in the group stage).

I want this to be our priority now.

I can't believe we had the type of season we had last season and all got excited for that wet fart of a Champions League adventure.

We're not going to look back in however many years time and say "remember that time we finished 3rd and 4th a couple of times." Lets actually try and win something for once. 2 cups, of which are the lowest priority, in 25 years is appalling

Being in Europe, whatever the competition, is a must. It gives a whole new dimension to the game for our club and the players. Billy Nick knew that, said it and was right imo.

I think the view that our highly paid, ultra fit players must concentrate on the league and nothing but the league to get CL at all cost every season is a narrow one. I know many disagree with this but for me it's a must that we aim for silverware in all domestic and European cup competitions.

Where's the "Thread for those of us who are fine with being in the Europa, would prefer to be in the Champions League and have a nagging itch on the underside of their left nutsack?"
