Think it probably to early for Parrott as he has only just turn 17 iirc?
Looking forward to hopefully seeing a bit of Roles in preseason, without knowing to much about him he does have a great scoring record from midfield in the youth sides

All you need to know is Roles scores goals.

There is a reluctance by people here to admit that the academy isn't performing at a high level or even well

We have produced a few prem players in the last 10 years and currently have 3 in our 1st team squad, I am not sure what you are expecting?

I’m not denying Chelsea are still ahead of us but the gap has closed in regards to attracting young players. Pochettino (although a bit of a myth) plus the training facility must be a big attraction. But then I have no idea how the whole incentive to parents stuff works and what lengths Chelsea may go to. But the fact that their loan operation is a massive organisation for them I would imagine will see them go to some lengths to secure a young player.
Most of chelsea’s players have been there from 8 yrs old. No one can be sure of anything at 8 yrs old. Whoever picks them at that age must know his stuff or has been very lucky. It’s ridiculous to think they let the following players go at 14.
Nketiah Arsenal
Rice West Ham
Brewster Liverpool

Marcus always has had a very rotten attitude, and got him into all kind of issues with other academy kids. Neither can his parents be blamed. He had an absolute outstanding opportunity at Norwich, and lived lavish, with massive attitude problems. And caused all kind of issues with Norwich. Lots more can be said, but don’t blame the club, or staff. He is still too bone headed.

Big shame that, sounds like he's earned himself a reputation that will be difficult to shake now. Just hope we include buy-backs or sell-on percentages should he ever have a wake up call and deliver his potential.

Anyone know the kind of side we'll be putting out against Dulwich Hamlets tomorrow?

Im well aware, who we have produced in that time, I have been following the academy for the last 13 years in that space of time, the regime in charge has changed 3 times and this current way of working needs improving or else we go back to where we started.

Those prem players came under the previous setup

Which needs addressing?

A) The initial scouting of the kids
B) The development from youth to men's football
C) The gateway to first team football
D) All of the above?

I don't follow the youth setup as much as I would like, but I think it's clear that we can bring through players who are a little special. However, pushing them into the stage where everyone expects them to be has always been the issue for me. That final step into the men's game has always been a constant thorn in our strategy.

As much as it pains me to say it, but at least Chelsea will loan their teenagers out. They may not come back ready for the PL, but they will make a few quid from them if they don't.

Roles goals
Go to 1.25 watch roles win the ball , play a one two with Harry, then see roles bury it

Most impressive part of that was winning the ball back from Jan. Mauricio would have liked that

as evidenced by bowden and white who are with the first team whilst the likes of a.shashoua, maghoma, markanday, bennett etc are with the u23s. not to take anything away from the first two as they are good players themselves but they are certainly of the less thrills variety than the others.

It's just risk averse. Attacking players (risk takers) are by definition going to be strongest going forward and making things happen, but won't get the chance until they are as good in defence as they are attack, and if they're not they are worked on until their risk taking is reduced. The expectation isn't for defensive players to be as good in attack as they are in defence. A CB or a CM who's has good defensive awareness, safe-passing or a good work-rate isn't going to get ignored until he can learn to beat a man, or demonstrate vision and creative passing.Hence we struggle to bring through attacking players. It's safety first. We would rather other clubs develop those that take risks and then buy them, despite having excellent players ourselves.

Interested to hear about BLF if he plays, sounds like he’s one to watch.

He’s in Singapore. Have to say I love BLF and White as prospective talents. But when you see them up against the seniors you realise how physically they have much to catch up. Might be a year to early for both but hopefully don’t get overawed and can put up a decent show.
