game finished 2-1 to us, sounds like whiteman had to make a few saves to get us the win. we finished in the middle tier so go into the 2nd phase with villa, norwich and fulham from the south and everton, derby, boro and stoke from the north.

What height is Skipp? Any time I've seen him (very little - the odd England game just) he can't have looked more than 5'8. I know we have played Marsh there quite often too - presumably just allows us to bring the ball out from the back more comfortably, which we love encouraging at this level.

think i'd put him around 5'9, he's definitely taller than marsh who is 5'7-5'8.

Ah okay - could potentially end up taller than Winks then. Good stuff as was convinced he was like 5'7.

Got some news on tsaroula.

Both his parents were born in england both from greek families. My mate is adamant he will not play for greece (think that's more personal feelings though. He really doesn't want him to).

When the new coach came in he left nick out for a few games. Nick went to see him and asked if he could have a word the coach said that he had to go to a meeting. Nick said he'd wait.
After a few hours his mum rang him to see where he was, he told her that he was waiting for the coach. She said that he hadn't eaten and should come home and see him another time. He refused. So she drove to the training ground and took him some food.
The coach came out of the meeting and was suprised to see him still there (i think he had waited for four hours or something).
They then had a chat for about half hour and afterwards his mum asked him how it went. He said he thought it went well.
He's started everygame since.

Didn't realise that we had a new coach. From grimsby or something who is it?
That's some Brendan Rodgers type management games being played right there. Instead of the envelope, who can fast themselves outside the office for the longest..?

Wonderful story. The kind of thing Poch loves. Sort of story you'd hear about Kane or Winks.

Our u16s lost 7-2 to what would have been a very strong Arsenal group. Our old player McEneff scored for them

Interesting to note that Jordan, brother of ex-Spur Aaron McEneff, is a Spurs fan despite playing for the filthy gooners.

I didn't know Jordan McEneff played for us.

He definitely featured for us in a couple of tournaments in the 14/15 season. Some tournament in Switzerland and maybe even in Riga. Remember seeing pics of him with Pedder and Binks. He may have just been on trial either way he left. He was briefly at Everton beforehand so could just be trialling.

How do you know he's a Spurs fan? You'd think he'd want to stay with us which suggests we didn't think he was good enough. It'd be interesting to know how both he and Spencer-Adams (who looked decent but gangly) both ended up at Arsenal. The fact that they're both going to be part of their incredible intake next year suggests they have ability. It has around 7 England internationals in it.

Not going to act like I watched a lot of him but the clips I've seen of McEneff definitely suggests he looks better than Poch jr. Looks a talent

He has an old twitter account which is full of pro Spurs stuff.

poch will like this, mcdermott on sterling:
It’s very rare that in a game you’re on top for 90 minutes and in a match like this, the goalkeeper, the defenders and the team defensively as a whole has really got to contribute. You could mention Alfie and the two centre-halves but one of our best defenders today was Kazaiah Sterling (up front). He really worked his socks off and I think he takes some credit for how much he gave to the team both in possession, which we know he can do, and out of possession as well.”

Anton Walkes conceded an own goal in the 82nd minute for Atlanta United in the club's inaugural match to lose the game 2-1 to my NY Red Bulls.

Maghoma bagged a lovely free kick in this game, straight into the top corner with could curl and power

not the ideal start but wasn't exactly a horrific one - https://streamable.com/3mtog

The own goal is due to his own poor positioning. He's in front then he's behind then he's in front again, no idea where his man is until the ball is a yard away. Its exactly the same thing that used to happen in the U21s. He'd get himself in a terrible position and then have to make a reckless block on his own goal line which inevitably lead to him putting the ball past his own keeper. Some own goals cannot be helped, some own goals are because of poor feet, some own goals are freak mishits, some own goals however are because the defender gets into absolutely shocking positions. I remember Djimi Traore at Liverpool was forever putting the ball in his own net for this reason.

I largely agree with this.

I think Walkes will be retained until the end of Atlanta's season and then probably sold.

I would be surprised if Stylianides and Pritchard were kept on but then if we're cutting Lesniak and Owens loose, there aren't *that* many CMs coming through; Marsh, Skipp, Oakley-Boothe will all play some U23 football, I'm sure, but Amos will likely be on loan. I gues there's Duncan as well. Given the choice I'd keep Pritchard of the two.

I wouldn't be surprised if Maghoma and Tracey left, plus one of the keepers. Harrison will likely get another year and another loan, though I can see him going down the Oduwa and staying longer than he should and not actually getting anywhere.
I'm expecting Walkes to come home in January, head off on loan to a Championship club for the rest of the season and sign him for a nominal fee in the summer.

I don't think Tracey is going anywhere. He's not been with us long, he's made good progress and he could well make us a bit of money in a year or two. Right now we'd get nothing.

I'm frustrated with Maghoma's situation. He had so much promise and he's just stagnated. I still think there's a good lower half Championship/Top half League One CB in there. If he leaves now I'm not sure he's got the momentum and self-confidence to achieve that. I just want him to find some form so he can take it with him.

Everyone seems to like Pritchard. It depends what future the club see for him. Will he get a league club if we let him go? I'm not sure. For that reason we may hold on to him and get him a loan where we can cover his wages. See how he does. We do seem to have some loyalty to lads like Pritch.
Normally I would agree with you guys on Walkes but judging how I have been wrong with him again and again, I would imagine him to a first team player and starting cup matches when he comes back
