I read the conversation. You started by very much advocating replacing Lloris with Schmeichel & as the responses flowed in you were talked down from the ledge and regained a sense of sanity.

It's all good my Danish Yiddo brother. (y)

Read it again.

I said Schmeichel was an slight upgrade because he’s not a liability imo, which I think Lloris is. I then went on the say I would never sign Schmeichel because he’s not what we need in our system when we play from the back.

But let’s not derail this thread anymore :smug:

Sounds like Modric and Bale aren’t part of Zidane’s plans at Madrid.... couldn’t do worse than suggest a cheeky swap for Eriksen. Might be a long shot, but imagine Winks getting a year to train and play alongside Modric. And a front 3 of Bale, Kane and Son would be quite delicious.
That does not move us forward. Both have seen their best days - so you just delay an issue whilst leaving us no cash to fix it.

Ah right. I'm with you now (y).

So an upgrade is not a replacement & there was no point in talking about him because he's not on your wishlist & isn't suited to our system. .

Yep you're right. Let's not derail the thread anymore. :wacky:

I'm sure Phil Foden will be delighted
Now there’s a player I’d love to see in a Spurs shirt; just watch City cause one of England’s best talents in a generation to totally come up short on fulfilling his undoubted potential...

Modric is still significantly better than any of our existing CMs whilst presenting a unique opportunity for Winks to learn up close from a truly world class CM. And Bale at 29 still has 3 years at the very top, if not more (he'd need to sort out his barnet and that dodgy bum fluff beard though). I'd only be interested if we got them in exchange for Eriksen, and if Madrid are keen they may bite. Getting in two international superstars who have won multiple CLs and domestic league titles is a bad thing?

I honestly don't have a clue who we will bring in this summer. Likewise, I'm not completely confident I can name all the players likely to leave.

In terms of a wishlist though, I'll base the following on Toby, Trippier, Rose, and Erikssen leaving:

CB - Dunk or Tah

RB - No idea. Would love AWB, but I just can't see Levy sanctioning a $50M plus deal for this kid... as it'll take at least that to get him from Palace.
LB: Sessegnon or Atal

CM: Sander Berg/N'Dembele
CM: Rabiot (Free)
CM: Grealish

AM: Isco (on loan)

Forward: Bale (on loan)

Hear me out on Isco and Bale... If Erikssen goes the other way, and Isco is surplus to requirements, why not consider a 1 year loan option? As for Bale... no way he's staying at Madrid next season. Perhaps there's an opportunity to work out a 2-year loan deal with RM.

Generally speaking, minus the loans and free agents, we'd still have to fork-out somewhere in the realm of 150-175M for the above. But if Poch hypothetically has a $100M budget to begin with, and can spend more based on sales... then the 150M mark isn't completely unreasonable.

All that being said... I really don't have much of an idea what will happen. As things stand today, I'd like to think we'll make our biggest investments in midfield and full-backs.

Cm - modric, ndombele, wing, billing, doucoure, gueye, aouar

RB: No clue. Would love Wan Bissaka, but I think he's too expensive.
DM: Billing (Wanyama out).
CM: Tielemans or Grealish (Replace Dembele).
LW: Sessegnon.
FW: Mitrovic or Rondon (Llorente out).

Mostly squad players. Tielemans would in my opinion improve us. Apart from the players above, we would need a real marquee signing.

This would be an incredible Summer.
Adding these young, exciting, quality players would give the squad a real freshness and a huge creative boost.

I'd add Tielemens in there for the CM also

So you think neither Bale nor Modric would improve us? Wow.

I think they would, for a season or two.

But I suspect Poch would prefer some younger, emerging talent. As would I tbh.

Tielemans, Billing, Brooks, Grealish, Zaha. Would all be preferable long term.

I'd love it if we just bought 3 or 4 players who are young English talent ...

Sessegnon
Grealish
Chilwell
Wan Bassika

Offload ...

N'Koudou
Rose
Wanyama
Janssen
Aurier
Trippier
Llorente

I expect the likes of Winks, Dier, Dele, etc. to step up next season with a full pre-season and another year's experience.

If Toby and Eriksen depart I will be gutted, but understand, and would expect to see a marquee creative CM/ACM player signed to replace Eriksen.
