Can we afford to clear out half our squad? I understand Toby and Eriksen will be difficult situations due to contracts but other than that, I don't see how we can afford to have a massive overhaul.

Vorm - Makes sense, not playing, 3rd choice now and we can bring in a younger goalkeeper.
Aurier - More likely to go than Trippier
Nkoudou - Will anyone take him?
Janssen - See above
Wanyama - See above, plagued with injury these days, shame because that first season with us he was immense
Llorente - Contract expiring

4 of those have barely played a game between them but Llorente, Aurier, Toby and Janssen all have a lot of minutes this season. So already that is 4 players we would need to replace on top of a world class CM or 2. We can't even complete 1 deal, so how the hell will we get 5/6 over the line
I think so. As long as you keep the core intact then the problems of transitioning are not too problematic.

If we retain the following;
Kane
Dele
Son
Dier
Jan
Lloris
Rose/Davies
Sissoko/Winks

Then it allows for continuation and new players to be integrated without too much pressure. Lucas, Sanchez, Foyth, etc have adapted well enough to the first team too so can be relied upon.

I think my absolute top buy (without being over silly) would be N'Dombele - this isn't news, but his performances remain impressive and my feelings haven't changed.

Would be a big statement if we could get him. Levy would have to rip up his rule book on transfers to get it done though.

Think we'll see Onomah being included in a deal for Sessegnon. Think he'll be a good fit for Fulham and would help that Parker and Wells both know Josh and what he can offer.

I’d rather deal with any issues around HG by getting rid of non-HG who don’t cut it, the list of those is quite lengthy - Vorm, Aurier, Wanyama, Lamela, Llorente and I’d add in Moura although I know many wouldn’t. Add in the likely departures of Eriksen and Toby and I think we are very far from having any issues with HG quota. We should only buy HG where we get the requisite quality at a sensible price, beyond this our HG should largely come from the academy.
That's fair

We have everything in place now, just hope top 4 bonds all that together. Stadium, training facilities, Kane, Poch. It's enough for anyone to want to join...right?
All about the financials at the end of the day unfortunately. Stadium should be a game changer for us though so fingers crossed we show some ambition this summer.

Tottenham looking to snatch £30m-rated Andre Gomes from under the noses of Everton

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is willing to sanction a £30 million summer move to try to snatch midfielder Andre Gomes from under the noses of Everton.

Gomes has impressed during his season-long loan spell at Everton and the Toffees are desperate to sign him on a permanent deal from Barcelona.

But they are set to face stiff competition from Spurs, as well as other clubs, who believe the 25 year-old could prove to be a bargain.

Tottenham considered signing Gomes on loan in January 2018 and have monitored his progress ever since.

Chief scout Steve Hitchen was at Anfield to watch Gomes in the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton in December and manager Mauricio Pochettino is an admirer of the player.

Pochettino has made it clear that Tottenham need to spend this summer, as he plots how to refresh his squad.

Following the departure of Mousa Dembele and with doubts over the future of Christian Eriksen, one of Pochettino’s main priorities will be to strengthen his midfield.

Tottenham also retain an interest in Ryan Sessegnon, who is expected to leave Fulham following their relegation, and have previously considered a bid for striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. Norwich right-back Max Aarons and Swansea City’s Daniel James are also on their radar.
If there's ANY truth to this we should sack Hitchens for incompetence. Gomes is not the player we need.

Im leaning towards not going for Sessegnon now too. We are all well aware that our funds are limited, we have some fairly major holes in our team/squad and I don't think Sessegnon helps with any of them. Before anyone suggests he would slot in at LB, his defending is a million miles from what it needs to be. Fulham have the worst defence in the league and they don't even risk him at LB or LWB.

The caveat on this I guess is that if he is available v.cheaply then it could make sense long term business wise.

Yeah it's an awkward one. But i think Sessegnon is one of those players that if we didn’t get now we’d all be complaining we didn’t get him when we had the opportunity. It seems quite a few spurs fan are quite cold on him coming, when liverpool and utd fans seem pretty desperate for him to go there. I know he hasn’t set the PL alight this season but he is only 18 and I think his stats show that he has something like the 3rd or 4th highest key contributions for a player his age in the PL.

I agree though, we got other pressing issues on the pitch, unless Poch thinks he can make him into a wingback.

The fans not wanting him are mostly just guilty of "flavour of the month" horse-shit. The kid has phenomenal quality in that left foot of his. Even in season that has not gone well for him or Fulham, he's put some delicious balls into the box only to see nothing come of them. He's 19 and played almost 100 professional games.

Also he's HG and can cover a couple of positions - we'd be absolutely nuts not to take him now his stock is a little lower, he club needs to bring in some money, and he's got 1 year on his deal.

I'm genuinely surpised by the negative reaction to the Gomes link.

He's been excellent for Everton this season and their fans love him.

Granted we all want a top quality CM but if N'Dombele is gonna be 75m then we need to consider that 30m for a player like Gomes is good business when we potentially need to bring in anothe r4 or 5 players this summer.

My only issue with it is his price vs our budget and what our needs are. If we go with him and Rose at LB and Rose gets hurt again is anyone really comfortable running out Sessegnon for 2 or 3 months game in/game out? Davies and Sessegnon is most definitely not a good enough duo at this point either.

I also don't think we should spend 30mil on a guy who would likely be our 6th string AM option when we have much bigger needs.

It would be Sessegnon and Davies rose will be leaving imo
