There's 16 games left so 48 points to play for. If we go on a run we are more than capable of catching Chelsea. All the teams are capable of dropping silly points as well. If we get to 9-10 games left with about 4 points in it then it's still all to play for so they don't have to lose the next two.

Poch has to get the lads to win our games and let the rest take care of themselves. There's no point trying to analyse where anyone might drop points as results always surprise us. If Chelsea maintain their form they will win it but they may have a bad run - a few draws in a row and they may get a bit nervous.

Just enjoy the ride. We're up there again fighting.
We are on a run - 6/1/0 in our last seven in the league. Just need to keep it going and see where that leaves us.

The thing for me is that when we went 2 down on Satuday I still felt that this team would not give up and could get back in it. I won't write us off just yet for the title. This group of lads have a lot more guts than many a past Spurs team.

I'll happily repeat myself since everybody else is, we are not in the race for the title. We might become parts of the title race in the future, but right now we are in the top-4 race and should be goddarn excited about the prospect of such a good position 2 seasons in a row.

Im not saying that we will win the pl but people suggesting chelsea have it in the bag are plain silly! Yes we all have our opinions but to think theres 16games left and 9 point gap means there us still all to play for. 9 point in the pl is NOTHING and can be closed in a month. Chelsea are very dependent on the same 14players and if 1 or 2 were to get injured then they can EASILY go on a bad run, LDDL or similar.
I jusr hope when they crumble it is US who are there to sweep up!!!!

We were 2nd a few days ago and are now just 3rd. If the second placed team is not in the title race, well fuck me we may as well close the club down and all switch to another sport.

What the hell are you on about?

Oh yeah, woot woot we made it to 2nd. Now we are definitely a title contender. Just like last season, I bet you are one of those who go on and on about how we "lost the title".

Exactly. We need to continue our great form, hope Chelsea come unstuck by having some difficult fixtures at last. We also need to hope the teams around us aren't as consistent as us.

Lots needs to happen for it to open up for us but it's not impossible.

so how do we do this with the size of our squad? because from the 5th round of the FA Cup you then need to start playing a very strong XI, the same with the EL, and no guarantee of winning it, but what it would do is enhance a bigger possibility of injuries, which would most probably then even rule out a top 4 finish.

what would you prefer

1, go all out for everything, and end up with nothing

2, hope the right rotation can be found, and hope to get lucky in a cup, and finish 4th

our squad doesn't have the depth to go all out for everything

There is a famous motto that comes to mind.

"To dare is to do"

They won the bloody title, not the FA Cup.
They got into and are still in the Champions league.
I'd definitely happily swap an FA Cup win for a league title.
We certainly would make more use of that than Leicester who are back in the duldrums.

No one is saying they'd rather finish 4th than win cups.
They/we are saying if we finish 4th/or higher that the exposure and income generated will grow the club to a point where cup wins will occur more frequently.
Arsenal and United, in the Champions league era, have both surpassed our 8 FA Cup wins since we last won it twenty six years ago.

I was just under 10 then. A lot of our fans don't remember or weren't even born.
I'm sure a domestic cup win once every quarter of a century is great, spending the next 10 years on the scrap heap in mid table is not.
We will not keep this, or any decent squad together year on year if we finish 10th and win a cup. They will all want to leave.
It's not a case of preference anymore, we HAVE to be in the champions league year on year to maintain this.

Fair enough mate. I am not blind enough to think CL football isn't important. It totally is. Just need to win some things along the way. Easier said than done, but things are looking more positive than they ever have in my 30 odd years as a fan.

Unless we win something we will never shut our rival fans up. I want that more than anything.

To be specific, I didn't ask why, I merely made a flippant comment based on facts. I don't care how you rate my posts, so take it home as far as I'm concerned. You think I post here for sake of the ratings?

Why do you even bother watching sport?
I can only point you in the direction of this post:

To complain about it on forums.
Inaccurate, but ha-ha-funny, I guess. I've actually not complained about Spurs in this thread, if I've been complaining it has been about other fans who keep insisting that we are in the title race, and go on to fault me for talking against that, when we clearly are not (at the moment). I'm super happy about the latest results and our present standing. We are doing great.

Surely every team that has a mathematical chance of winning the league is "in the title race"? Sure we might not be leading the race and should probably be considered outsiders, but I'm not quite sure how you can assert your view with such assurance.

I think it is reasonable to suggest that football and mathematics/statistics don't really go together very well, in fact some times they defy each other. Mathematics in football doesn't necessarily equal plausible.
