I actually think we’ll be fine once we inevitably exit the CL this week and can play an unchanged XI once a week. Considering Conte struggles to select a rotated side and make effective subs. We’ve been at our best under Conte whenever we’ve had continuity in the first XI - it’s such a delicate system to just throw players into.
You'd think if that was the case he would bin it off, it is ridiculous that a manager of his stature cannot get a tune out of teams playing more than once a week. Literally every top club on earth will be playing multiple times a week, probably the reason why he has never won in Europe.

Maybe, although I do think the injuries we have to Lloris and, in particular, Bentancur, coupled with poor form from some of our forwards will make our run-in a little more inconsistent than last year.

The problem is not playing twice a week. The problem is the players, for whatever reason, aren't playing for the manager. Going out of the CL won't help, it'll just leave us deeper in the mire.

Great result for us to give them motivation to go out and start fast. Let’s see if they can do that

I still can't believe Bournemouth beat Liverpool. Being a Tottenham fan, my fear going into this game week was that we'd be out of the top 4 by this point having lost to Forest by a solitary scruffy goal or something.

Southampton (A), Everton (A) and Bournemouth (H) make up 3 of our next 4 - the other being Brighton (H) - while Liverpool (with 2 games in hand) have City, Chelsea and Arsenal up next after what will presumably be a hard-fought but fruitless trip to Spain. Newcastle are still a threat and they have games in hand but they haven't won in the league since mid-January.

We're only in one competition now, one match a week with a couple of exceptions - the boys just need to get their heads down and work for every point.

Def possible to get 4th, favourable run of games left, pts in the bag rather than games in hand and no other competitions to distract us. We will have no one to blame but ourselves if we do not make top 4.

We need to sort out our away form. At home, Milan aside, we've been good enough for a while. But we've had four disasterous games at Wolves, Sheff U, Milan and Leicester since winning at Fulham.

Saints and Everton are games we need to prove our mettle in. We can't continue with these insipid away days.

Imagine if they were playing for the manager we'd be top of the league and not 4th.

Were we that bad against Wolves, though? I thought we were unlucky.

The result was worse than the performance, but not scoring in the first half and completely losing control in the second because Wolves were proactive with their subs and gameplan chances and we completely failed to respond was a pretty terrible way to lose.

Reckon we we 'only' need to win 7 more games - 69 pts should be enough. LFC are not winning more than 9 of their last 12 and whilst NUFC rarely lose, are unlikely to get 9 wins from 14 (one less than they have got all season).

Brighton and CFC big outsiders of course...the latter needing almost a flawless finale.

Agreed. We created chances in that game, we just couldn't finish them. Out of the recent away defeats that was by far the best performance. Traore scored a quality goal and that was that.

Just looked at our remaining fixtures and I’d say we only have 8 ‘winnable’ fixtures left.
with the other fixtures being Newcastle, Liverpool and United.
it will take a huge effort similar to last season.

We should be able to make top-4:

@ Southampton - W
@ Everton - W
Brighton - W
Bournemouth - W
@ Newcastle - D
Man United - D
@ Liverpool - L
Palace - W
@ Aston Villa - W
Brentford - W
@ Leeds - W

26 points + 48 points = 74, which should be enough for top-4

This assumes we stay relatively injury-free for the rest of the season. With no other competitions, we should get a settled XI, and time to prepare.

No chance we're winning that many games imo. We havent strung 4 wins all season so cant see that happening then 2 draws.
Cant see Newcastle or Liverpool getting 4 wins either so I dont think it will need that many points anyway.

We have not played just 1 match per week since September - when we went 5-2-0 over the first 7 games of the league. We have a good run in us.

We very well might drop points in some of those games - but we should be aiming for all 3 points.
