My love was passed down by my parents. They used to go home and away in the early 60's, including the double year. My Mum knew Bill Nic's wife, I'm not sure how well, but she sometimes helped them with tickets.

Years ago my Dad gave me his scrap book of Spurs newspaper cuttings, photos of the double team and programs from the 60's including the FA Cup finals. Couldn't really support any other team after that!

That takes me back.. You'd get your football annuals for Christmas.. Scorcher. Goal. Shoot.. And the weekly magazines and your ticket stubs and you'd do your own scrapbook.. I used to love it.. Funny how that died out.. Such good memories.

One thing i forgot to mention I played some decent football as a youngster and got to play at Orient West Ham and a couple of times at Highbury where I managed somewhat miracuously to score from a distance out at the ClocK End (thats how I remember it anyway) before Henry (bastard copied me) did I did the full length of pItch celebration ending up rolling around on the oenalty spot in front of the North Bank with me and couple of Spurs supporting team mates giving it large (got into trouble for being disrespectful but the oh the smirk and my old man loved it)

Never got to play at White Hart Lane sadly, though we did get into the ground one summer and had a run on the pitch

Glenn Hoddle and the attractive football circa 79 onwards... the surges in the Shelf; Park Lane versus Barcelona on a Wednesday night in ‘82. The Paxton end for a (very) different perspective. Beating Wolves 6-1 and a group of 10 of us jumping around like lemons on the corner between the Shelf & Park lane; the peanuts guy having his bag split in the shelf and songs sung about him as a result. Being young & hopeful of Spurs playing good football and winning - feeling one of the tribe

Probably not the brightest child but Spurs wore white shirts and navy shorts. Had Gazza and Lineker playing... Must be England right?

By the time I realised they weren't and that England hadn't just won the FA cup in 91 they were already in my heart.

I think it is England in the photo, not the national team but Mike England with Jimmy Greaves

my dad was born in Edmonton, so it’s come from his dad, to my dad to me. I had no choice and neither do my sons. The poor little bastards ?

I love spurs because I was born in chingford (well, walthamstow general), and my old man is a spurs fan.

Indoctrination is why I love spurs.

Immigrated to Tottenham from abroad as a 5 year old. Spent a term in school at broad water farm primary. PE lesson teachers split us up into two team, Spurs and arsenal! Never looked back since. Used to actually be a PSG fan before that, well the kit I was given first though.

No idea. It's all been lost in the mists of time.

But there's nothing to be done about it now.

I Love Spurs because of 1 man, Glen Hoddle, my Dad (RIP) took me to many a match at Highbury, I guess he figured if he talked about Arsenal enough I would grow to love them, being born in Islington I did learn to love something, but it was the way that Glen Hoddle played footy,Pure class, None better, Hoddle was a Genius with the ball, the Lillywhites nothing better.

My grandad was from that mythical Spurs fan base the East End Jewish community and my mum passed on the Spurs gene to me. Granddad had a talking bird that was taught Spurs chants. I vaguely remember ‘Chivers and Greaves’ being its usual refrain. That’s over fifty years ago now.
My dad was Maltese and the whole island supported Manchester United when he was a teenager so he sort of supported them but I have no memory of ever wanting to support them.
I live and breathe Spurs and always will, whatever.

My old man (RIP) was a Wolves fan, but we moved from the Midlands to Seven Sisters in 1980, when I was 5.

I used to look out of our flat window & see loads of people setting off down the road each weekend, but wasn't sure why. My dad told me that they were all going to watch Tottenham, and that it was just a walk down the High Street to get to the stadium.

He'd often take me just down the road to Seven Sisters Market, where we'd watch the supporters steam by, singing, waving flags etc. The atmosphere in that High Street was amazing.

Then early in 1982 he figured he'd get me a late Christmas surprise, and informed me we were going to take that walk down to the market to watch the fans go by again. But this time we kept walking & before I knew it he was taking me through the turnstiles of White Hart Lane, to watch Tottenham play against his beloved Wolves. He didn't care that he was surrounded by Spurs fans, he was introducing his boy to the world of football supporting, and I was hooked from that day.

He never forced Wolves upon me, and told me that a true supporter follows the team that's local to them. So that was it, Tottenham became my team.

As for the game, let's just say my old man didn't enjoy the walk home as much as me. Tottenham won 6-1 thanks to a penalty from Hoddle, a hat-trick from Ricky Villa, and one each for Crooks & Falco. But the truth is, short arsed me only saw the Hoddle penalty & missed the rest because my dad couldn't hold me up for the entire game.

But it's a very positive memory :) , though its also the reason you poor buggers have to endure me on sites like this

Ps, I'm also positive that we're now shit. Does that count, too :woot:

Been supporting since 87, but I'll stop today if this Super League goes ahead.
Similar for me. The whole experience is getting further and further away from what I signed up for. My Spurs are pretty much gone already. Easier now than ever to walk away, Burkinshaw-esque. I’ll kinda be glad not to put the burden on my kids.
