What was the score mate? We’re man.I the 2nd best team back then? What was the stadium and going to the match like back then?
As you say tough time now but that love for the club will remain forever and always and good times will return.
2-1 to Spurs. My boss had a season ticket in the old West Stand and I got it for several seasons.
Before that I would stand in the shelf or park lane.
Probably the 67 cup final, I was at school in Harrow and back then we would get our tickets from match day token programs.
My Chelsea friend had got a ticket for the final so I paid him 10 shillings for his ticket.
I stood in the Chelsea end, it was quite safe back then.
I wore Spurs rosettes and better still, Spurs won.
But with all this nostalgia, I came over for the Carling Cup final in 2008 and when we won, it was like winning the lottery.
We are still waiting for what we will win next?

Ye of course sir ledley.. The true king after sol the great pretender went mad. Thought he was actually gonna play James bond I'm sure.. Nutter.. Remember watching the 78 world Cup and Argentina. We named ardilles flora, cos all people could do was foul him.. Always on the floor.. What a player..
Haha great nickname. My old man waxes lyrical about signing ardiles & Villa says it would be equivalent now of us signing mbappe & Coman etc after they’d just won the World Cup.

I know how excited I was when we signed Robbie Keane haha can’t imagine how cool it must have been when we announced signing the two Argentinians !

That’s epic mate Spurs is in your family’s blood going back that far! Great you can share it as a big family and over generations too :)
It is in the blood. My youngest daughter met her now husband, "Dad he's a Yid" My eldest who now lives near Boston her husband is a fan by marriage he did come with us to watch them in a friendly against Exeter a few years back. Before we got married our first holiday was a trip to Stevenage, of course we had to go to see the boys in a midweek League Cup match v Palace 1979 0-0 bore draw. She did say the other day. "You've changed you never used to swear at the TV."

Wow the year I was born.. Now that must've been some experience.. 54 years ago.. The lilywhite days and our best kit ever..
What was the kit? That’s another thing about Spurs I know we are biased as fans but our kit is pretty beautiful and we’ve had some classics down the years. Think that Holsten one that ginola wore is about my favourite, also strangely liked the kappa one in jol years although it was tight as hell to wear! ?

That’s so cool about the tickets from the match day token programs, so nostalgic! And awesome you saw us win in 2008, that was a sweet day winning over Chelsea off the back of woodys head! Also berbas penalty was so nonchalant.

I was born into it Dad Grandad Uncles all support or supported them stories of great games and players. Taken along to games as a kid and sent down the front standing on a box at the front of the old boys enclosure it was a passage of rites. Lived just round the corner to the ground growing up and used to love the atmosphere on match days the general build up down the High Road until kick off.

Had some great days and nights watching this lot cried like a baby when Moura scored the third in Amsterdam sadly wasnt there in the flesh but have been to every Spurs cup final since 73 won't be there on Sunday. Being in Madrid for a European cup final I couldn't believe it the amount of times I checked the bag for the tickets on the way there - whata day we had in Madrid and Bilbao the night before - what a shame we were robbed by that pen

Of course there have been frustrations and what I would have given to have won the League so bloody close a couple of times - this season has been so strange not going to the ground every other week which had been part of my life since I was a kid has been odd, I still haven't really got used to the new place but lets hope we get back soon so I can be the moany old bloke at the back again

What was the atmosphere back like then in the 70’s mate? Not full match attendance but still standing right so tightly packed in? The noise of WHL is such a buzz! And agree we’ve had some great maverick style players over the years which have lit up WHL

I stood on The Shelf, believe it or not ?, right in line with the 18yrd box, Park Lane end. When it was full it was fecking packed like sardines and the atmosphere was one of danger and excitement for a young lad, you never knew when or where it might kick off, the games against the big clubs and the notorious (aggro) clubs were equally as exciting, the game felt more real back then, everything, the football, the players, the fans, even the stadiums had an identity and a character of their own, you only had to look at a pic of one stand and you could immediately identify which team it belonged to and none of it was sanitised as it is now, sure we've had some truly great nights at WHL mark2, which ironically was the best for atmosphere, just a shame we couldn't pack another 10k in, it would've pissed all over the fabled Anfield, but there just this thing about the 70's & 80's. I can't explain it in words, maybe it's just because I was young and impressionable, I imagine it's the same for lads growing up in the last 15-20yrs, but the game, the players and increasingly the clubs seem to be becoming ever more detached from the fans, which are the heart and soul of ANY football club! Maybe I'm just getting old as I've seen it all before or I'm just too cynical these days, but I do miss those days, days of freedom you could say, you could wake up on a Saturday morning and make a snap decision and think fuck it, I will go to Birmingham away and just jump on a train and away you went. They were good days

Because we’re the biggest club in London. Who are Arsenal’s biggest rivals? Chelsea’s? West Ham’s? They’re obsessed with us. There’s something special about this club no matter how much we try and fuck it up.

Just a plain white crew neck with a large plain Cockerell on the ball.. Beautiful badge.. White shorts for Europe, beautiful deep navy shorts for domestic.. Simple and perfect.

Football pitches that practically went into the stands. When throws ins you could practically touch the players.. That smell of deep heat all the players used.. In the stands when the whole crowd would move like an ebbing tide back n forth.. The orange casey on a snowy winters day.. And some of the pitches so beat up it was like a battlefield..

My favourite kit was the Admiral one 79-82? The only one I still have (somewhere) is the 84 shirt. Hummel I think.

Pat jennings.. Never saw a goalie quite like pat.. Rather than some dramatic all out theatrical dive across the goal.. Pat would ease himself across the goal line and just pluck the ball out of the air with one hand.... Magical..

God I sounded like my dad there.. He would always go on about this player, "he could head the ball from practically the half way line and nearly break the goal" ??ee by gum. ..

Pat Jennings one of my three (OK nearly four) all time heroes, Jimmy Greaves, Pat Jennings and Glenn Hoddle.
Pat was so unassuming very humble...but when he saved the second penalty in one match v Liverpool he shook his fist like a striker scoring a goal. Saving a penalty was rare but two in one match, unheard of back then. I'm not 100% certain but it was Tommy Smith and Kevin Keegan who penalties he saved and one was on his knees pounding the ground. Oh happy days.

Kind of remember that but was if I remember correctly it was 1985 and it was 73 years since we beat them at Anfield the year RMS Titanic sank.
