So leaving aside the result, you'd say you were happy with the performance?

I don't remember saying we "gave up" at any point. I'm saying we handed them the initiative in the 2nd half and let them back in the game. Who do you think dictated the game in the 2nd half? Them or us?

Listen mate we are going round in circles and getting nowhere, you made some accusations about the team and i disagree and said you were wrong. If that is the way you see the team and the way they play there is not much point is carrying on this conversation.

It was a genuine question. I'm honestly interested in the different perspectives on the game as it's interesting and can open my mind up to things I may not have considered.

I think we've got a great team, and a manager that if given time could work wonders for us. If I feel that we were too negative yesterday it's largely because I know that group of players are better than that.

really though, we havent been great this year by any means and were 3 points off 3rd. there are 2 champs league spots up for grabs. gareth bale has been living up to his hype in the last few games. moussa is back. ade, parker, benny and younes will be too soon. some great young prospects coming through, looking forward to seeing more of carroll. if we really start to play well as a team were gona kick arse. nearly through to the knockouts of the europa league. dempsey improving. and the jan window is coming up so we can add some quality signings to our squad.

ok, scratch the last one

Lot to be positive about right now.

4th in the league and Parker and Ade are back soon.

We've got a nice run of games, on paper, coming up and if we can keep up our form we will be in a good position in January which might help us buy a player we need.

Good times.

BAE back in probably about 2 weeks. Parker could be back any time now. Ade is off suspension. The transfer window is right around the corner and we could be going into one of the least formidable portion of our schedule in 4th place (on points for 3rd).

Everton will be huge, but even if we just manage a draw that will be a success and will be great looking forward.

Busy christmas schedule coming up as always, on paper we have decent games to play, important players coming back to fitness, until Kaboul comes back I wanna see this as the starting XI

Lloris
Walker - Caulker - Vert - BAE
Parker - Sandro
Lennon - Dembele - Bale
Defoe

I know Bale is out for a couple weeks but still, also some people may be wondering why no Ade? but Defoe has 9 goals in the league so far, would be unfair to drop him.

Like most, I think we have a lot to be positive about at the moment.

That said, whilst I advocated giving it all in the Europa at the start of the season, I now think we should focus solely on the league and a possible FA cup run. These Thursday nights I think have taken their toll on some of the players and we are in a position in the league where we really need to focus and keep playing as well as we can.

The only other downside I can see at the moment (beside missing Bale for a few weeks) is strangely the fact that Ade is coming back off his suspension. It really opens a can of worms for AVB as to who he plays. JD has earned his right to be playing, but Ade brings an entirely different perspective to our play and will open up a lot of other players. Plus if he isn't played we can, no doubt, expect him to start kicking off after about 2 weeks which doesn't really do anyone any good.

For the first time in ages, the players have a week between games, giving the likes of Verts and Sandro a chance to re charge the batteries a bit.

im going to go completely against seemingly everyone else on the site, I didnt think we were bad yesterday, not exciting, but solid, for the first time in a long time I actually didnt feel like we were going to concede, we completely contained the apparently "world class" fellani and they didnt really look at all threatening until two silly mistake late on. If it wasnt for the mistakes it would have been a very good win away at a very tough place. fuck the rest of you im a happy spurs fan atm!

I am incline to agree, I thought the commentators were presenting us as being worse than we were but we were solid and did as well as could be expected away to Everton up until they scored pretty much

If we had one that game everyone would be raving about what a perfect away performance it was etc etc etc even though we wouldn't have played any better than we did having lost the game curiosity of two flash goals.

Don't get me wrong Everton were probably the better team on balance and were at least worth a draw, but there were a good many reasons to be positive considering the players we had out pretty much up until the time we threw it away in the final moments.

The big concern is........this late goal issue is not a freak occurrence and it needs to be rectified asap, although as I have said before this will come with time as the new components get used to one another (not least a new keeper) and of course BAE back allowing Verts to play his natural position will be a massive boost for us defensively (and lord willing Kaboul)

Parker coming back and rotating with Sandro to keep both fresh would give better protection to the back line right up until the 90mins too

Fellaini looked very average yesterday, thought Sandro had a MUCH better game than him.

Fellaini is built up as being powerful but I don't see it, yesterday he went down very easily and when challenging players just decided to pull their shirt more than anything. No doubt he has his qualities but we made him look very average. Mind you, I felt we made their whole team look average, just those final few minutes where everything went wrong for us and right for them.

That absolute bullshit no-call on his pick of Dembele was brutal. Just a guy pretty much giving in knowing that he couldn't handle Dembele. At least everyone else noticed it but the ref. Dembele > Fellaini.

Fellaini is a great player. As a Red thats hard 2 say, but he is quality. I'd have him any day.

An indirect/direct positive for Tottenham is Danny Rose. With his performance this season, Levy will be in a situation he should be very excited about: He could sell off his current LB for a King's ransom of sorts, or he could keep his current LB and sell off the young English one to someone willing to overpay after his great season at Sunderland. Or, behind door #3, Rose is cool with sitting behind BAE and getting spot starts for us next season. Very positive news either way you slice it!
