We'll leave this here until we open the place up fully at which point you can use the player threads.

@Archibald&Crooks just to be clear, is this thread for us to share who we would like to sign in January?
Yes, but it still baffles me, if I had a list of three players I wanted to sign and shared it, after that i've fuck all to say, I couldn't give a flying shit who someone else wants to sign :D

But it keeps the peasants, erm members happy I suppose :hungry:

It be nice to bring in a creative attacker primarily and RWB. I feel we can wait on a LCB especially if we still want Bastoni as number 1. I do find it somewhat ironic that both Bastoni and Zaniolo have been pretty poor this season. Zaniolo hasn't managed a single goal or assist in the league and its been well documented how much Bastioni is struggling without Perisic next to him. On the one hand that does make you think we could bring in both in Jan but on the other side do we really want them.

I do think that both are actually a lot better then their current form suggest but, especially in regards to Zaniolo, im not entirely sure he's exactly what we need as he is more a direct runner then a creative player. Also i feel like Bastoni would take a while to adapt to the league so probably wouldn't make much immediate improvement to the squad. Worth noting that talks over Zaniolo's contract renewal have been going on but according to varying reports some say they have stalled others say it will be finalised during the World Cup. One would assume that if we are still interested he would likely be our top January target and considering the season he is having Roma may be more amenable to selling him especially if he doesn't sign a new contract as he would only have a year and half left. Im sure we would have been in his ear since summer as well.

Can't see us spending any crazy amounts of money in January, so likely a loan deal or signing players whose contracts will expire in June 2023.

To be loaned out:
Bryan Gil
Pape Sarr
Harvey White
Tanganga

To be replaced with:
Youri Tielemans (CM/AM) - Contract expiring June 2023
Adama Traore (RW/RWB)- Contract expiring June 2023
De Vrij (CCB) - Contract expiring June 2023
Marcus Thuram (LW/RW/CF) - Contract expiring June 2023

Would Juan Cuadrado from Juve be a good shout for wing back?

He's played there before, really experienced, an older player so Juve might be open to sell and would probably find it really easy to adapt to Contes demands.

If he was younger then yes. I wanted us to get him this summer when his contract was expiring. But it would have been a short term deal much like Persic. I feel like now the moment has passed.

Given how much Perisic is struggling I’d be reticent to sign any more aging wingers from Serie A.

I like the thought but realistically buying players with 6 months left on their contracts rarely happens. I guess it's due to the players wanting the additional funds going to them and buying clubs would rather get a player for free in the summer and lose out on the 6 months.

Seems an emininely sensible list to me. But I'm not sure Tielemans will be a target.

Id hope a realistic January would be Zaha and De Vrij. Both will have 6 months left, one played for Conte and is a leader and one is homegrown and a progressive ball carrier.

Then in the Summer we can look at players like Dumfries, Bastoni and Oblak (or another good GK).

Zaha should be at the top of the list for forward players.

He'll be relatively cheap, homegrown, and can play anywhere across the front three.

I really wouldn’t go anywhere near De Vrij tbh. He’s dropped a level in the last two seasons and really looks off the pace these days. I think he’d really really struggle with the pace of the PL

Ive read similar but also some Inter fans claim it may be due to his expiring contract. Apparently he wasnt great in his last year at Lazio either and then became top class for Inter. May just be his age though, who knows.

Yeah that inter side has conceded 17 goals. Mad considering they play a back 3.

Sadly I don’t see any of those as realistic or useful.
for example, thuram is more of a lwf (which we have already in son and richarlison), and have been linked to other players in that role (zaha, Maddison for example)
The only one that could be helpful is de vrij but I’m not sure he’s the passer we need to rotate with dier. Granted he has played for conte
Tielemans has been available for a while and no one has bitten for a reason, likewise Traore (and wolves are terrible this season and he still isn’t producing)

I’m also not sure about zaniolo- as has been mentioned he’s had a poor season so far. He strikes me as a similar kind of player to richarlison which is very different to kulusevski. And we know how important he is to our ability to break teams down.
