Does anyone know if you can use amortisation re players value as a tax write off. If not Levy is not that clever as we have a load of players whose value is diminishing by the day, not just Ndombele and dele but kane will soon be a free transfer too. From a squad worth maybe 5-600m it may now be worth 200m at best!

I was also told that the reason we do not yet have a stadium naming deal is because DL wanted the same numbers as the big NFL teams. Which is probably not Likely

We're the most credit-worthy club on the planet. It's not like they'd just let the team rot without these deals being on the horizon. It was never a choice between zero signings and these financial windfalls. And it won't be going forward, either. Targets may change but not the act of having targets in the first place. People need to relax.

The Goat’s bleat doesn’t sound like it’s saying that deal is dead, just taking longer than expected.

We weren’t fixing things anyway this Jan so if we can do enough to improve somewhat, push for top 4 and then go big when the new finances come in the summer, I’m fine with that.

I’m choosing to be a bit optimistic here because Levy is not an idiot and knows what happens if this deal/some financial input doesn’t arrive. We all want the same thing here.

Excuse my ignorance. If the issue is a deal we thought would have happened but hasn't yet, why does that prevent us spending the money?

We get told deals are spread over time periods so its not like we need to stump all the money up now. Or do we have no money at all to do anything now?

This is not a question to ITK just makes .e think the deal is unlikely or we are completely skint if we can't sanction the deal for Traore as an example.

Ok so just to elaborate a little on the Goats post.

The offer has been there for a while, but we have only moved forward with it from the point of Conte coming in. From what I'm told it's an outside investor and it's to do with a dilution of shares. I don't know much about this sort of thing so can't be more specific.

We hoped it would be done by now, but for whatever reason, and I believe due to the make up of the shareholding it was always going to be complicated and take time. FP and AC were both aware of this and knew it might affect January. Like I said the club hoped it would be done by now but for whatever reason it isn't.

I was told it was significant and all for transfers. Make your own minds up how much "significant" might be, as I honestly don't know. From what I was told this week it's still being worked on and that all parties are still hopeful it will happen.

Oh yes, and Levy is fully aware of the consequences of not backing Conte!!!

Cheers for the clarity Trix. That would be a massive step forward for the club if it does come to fruition. Fingers crossed!

If Conte and Paratici are happy to be patient and wait for the bigger picture to unfold, then we all should too (but that’s wishful thinking considering the meltdown merchants in here the last 24 hours…)

Not what he said. You missed out the crucial part of the sentence - do enough to improve somewhat.

I'm not weighing in to any argument, but people need to read things as a whole and not pick and choose what suits their narrative/argument

Cheers Trix, you would have hope Joe Lewis would have covered Levy somewhat till the deal got done unless he can’t or doesn’t want to.

There is one positive. If Levy is willing to dilute his shareholding, then it essentially means he has woken up to the need to significantly invest above and beyond in the team. Let's hope it goes through quickly ?
