I know this isn’t the ideal thread ,but just by way of response, I’m really not sure where this myth has come from.

Yes, he likes functional hardworking midfielders, but that doesn’t mean he actively wants a midfield completely lacking real ball players or creativity.

At inter the midfield three of Brozovic Eriksen and Barella was exceptionally technical, with a range of passing styles and a real ability to chip in with goals . At Chelsea Fabregas was a key player after taking a little while to settle into the system. This idea that he doesn’t like technical midfield players is completely unfounded imo.

Also, it’s all well and good saying creativity should instead come from the WBs , but if that’s the case then why haven’t we upgraded on Emerson or Doherty, neither of whom are good enough?
Agreed. I think its an after effect of a vast majority of people trying to support the Winks Skipp Hojbjerg midfield and signing of Bentancur.

Bit like the myth our midfield players can't pass a ball

Can't see RWB happening, otherwise surely we would have looked to move on Doherty. Pretty clear Traore was more Paratici than Conte so maybe he is happy to stick for now, and target a real upgrade the summer.

Pretty glad the Amrabat move was just a back-up, (also glad the player saves some face too, with the old he won't be allowed to leave this late announcement).

If we get rid of Ndombele, Lo Celso and Dele I think that would be fantastic and a sign that we really are finally listening to the manager. Mourinho and Poch were let down by the club who refused to take a hit on the players causing problems. You just can't work like that when the team mentality and culture is everything.

I really have no problem if we don't bring more numbers in, we are in two less competitions for the remainder of the season and have the squad to cope. Imagine how refreshing it will be to approach the all important summer window with the dead-wood already moved on. Hell, we might even do some early business...
I mean yes we have "moved on" Ndombele, Lo Celso and Dele (probs), but not quite. They could well be back into the club come summer where we once again try to shift them out.

This is true, but I can't see it happening unless the unthinkable happens and Conte walks. They will be sold, it is just much easier to wait until the summer to sort that. In the meantime we have the players Conte wants nowhere near his squad, well, nowhere near his squad

I think theres method to the madness with Tanguy's loan clause. If he manages to find his best form over there and we'd put an achievable clause of say £25m, that gives Lyon the ability to purchase at that fee, but flip him straight away to any other interested parties for £40m. (Just an example, but you get the idea)

The way we've done it, means if he finds form, Lyon either have to pay us €65m or we get him back and can sell to any interested party for a more reasonable fee.

Either way it means we have significant say in what happens in the summer in terms of moving him on. Or we keep him of course, but i feel that ship has sailed. Seems like smart dealings to me.

I’m at the point that I will just blindly believe.
Seems things are happening now. Whether good or bad I no longer care I just want conte to be happy and to stay in charge.

agree, slightly worried that Gio and Ndombele are loans without obligation to buy (I believe). If they continue as before then they'll be shipped back and we'll be stuck again. Good to see us making progress though

If we are going 343 we will probably see 2 hard working cm's rather than creative.
He could play Kulusevski as one of the 3. We will just need to see
That might well be an option. We're all just guessing at this point given the limited we know. Let's hope whatever happens in the rest of the window, Conte has what he needs to get us in the top 4; that's all that matters at this point :)

The hope is that by getting them out there and playing there will be more takers in the summer. Lo Celso was fantastic in la liga for Betis, could easily do the same with Villarreal. I also believe there is an option there too. Gil could well impress for Valencia and be a useful part-exchange option if we want any players from a top Spanish club. Hopefully Tanguy will also impress back where he's comfortable. It's much better for us than them coming in and underperforming in the odd cup/rotation game.

That's how the final day always is. Things happen too quickly. We're lucky if we get one update from the ITKs today but by the time we get that, it might all have changed.
