IF Bale is the one pushing for this move after seeing us spend 50m on new players trying to push hard for the title then he can fuck right off! One more year bale, just give it one more year. See how we go. We could be seriously pushing this year and he won't after all avb and spurs have made him! I hope he has a mare in Madrid.

yer i agree, we finally managed to buy a top striker & adding more depth into the team, getting the business done early & he wants to leave, his only 24 there's 5+ years he could potentially play for Madrid, or maybe levy couldn't say no to the offer, this will break his relationship with AVB!

i was not on line last night so not sure what the general discussion was about which striker the Goat might have been talking about.

But if selling Bale meant we got Lamela and this mystery striker then we have to be pretty pleased. We will have lost our star man but we will be a far stronger outfit than last season

Suarez.

The thing with it now (from my perspective) is that there is so much misinformation and vastly contradictory information flying around in all quarters that I just take all of it with a pinch of salt, and read nothing into anything else.

I'm sure this time next month it'll be clearer...

Hear hear.

One more reason: I live in Sweden. People here often don't anything about Tottenham, or why one should support such a team. During the last years something has happened. I have actually seen the response shift from "Tottenham who?" to "Ah, the team with Gareth Bale". If I can suppose that the increase in club awareness is even close to similar in the rest of the world, we are gaining incredibly much by having a world class talisman!

Like wise in Asia....

Also Ancelotti has come out saying to keep Ronaldo happy he'll let him roam wherever he wants on the pitch. Hope Bale is ready to be shoehorned into one role and told to stick there, you'll no long be the main man and far from it.

From Tottenham's perspective I just cannot see now being the right time to cash in on our biggest asset. I don't buy into this bollox about he could have a crap season either, he is only going to get better.

Ride the wave, qualifying for CL and then selling puts us in a much stronger position to attract better players without paying way over the odds.

In Levy I trust... ;)

With or without you just came on the radio.... I thought of Bale...... I'm crying as I write this, making a heart shaped gesture to the sky.

But who from RM is going to agree to come? Once you have played at Real it takes a pretty humble mind to accept a supposed step down in the name of playing regular football. Playing for Madrid breeds entitlement a horrible trait and only those towards the latter end of their careers become mature enough to accept it.

See VdV for example (dutch people tend to be more sensible anyway).

But DiMaria and the like are too young, their egos wont allow it, cast out of Real Madrid to go to a non CL team and in a swap deal to boot? No. Oh and Real Madrid will overprice their own players to drive the amount they need to stump up on bale down.

Best we can do is pre-spend on players elsewhere like Lamela.

Well that's why Coentrao and Morata are good players to ask for, Coentrao because he wants out and Morata because he wants to play more and the last couple of seasons he hasn't seen that and may well be beginning to feel he will still struggle if Bale arrives to take another attacking place

So Coentrao will fill our LB need, Morata our second striker need (and though young and inexperienced imo far more suited to the main striker role we need than Ade or JD and a perfect challenger/understudy to Soldado but also skilful enough to play in the same line up)

If we could do a double deal with Roma for Lamela and Pjanic (although I still can't see Roma allowing it) we would have a stronger better balanced team than we have now and presumably still be quite a nice few mill in and able to sell Benny, Ade and a cm to further boost that

In answer to your question and the goats info "We've shown interest in potentially spending some of the Bale money on a striker, but it'd substantially eat into any funds we might have."

I put 2+2 together and whilst this is my own opinion, I arrived at Suarez.

Striker, lots of money and eat....

just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Apparently...

But with the threat of legal action from Suarez to Lolerpool (if the press are to be believed...) over his buy out clause being met but them not allowing him to leave, it could get messy (not a cryptic)

Have I missed something? I don't see anything in the ITK read only, has Bale said he wants to leave?

Ljajic (10m), Lamela (30m), a new LB (8-10), another CB (8-10) and a young striker (8-15) and I could live with Bale leaving this year.

A front three of Soldado, Ljajic and Lamela is quite possibly stronger than Chadli, Soldado and Bale. And if we get to strengthen the rest of the team with the Bale money we may end up with an all around stronger squad. Only problem is the gelling, which makes it even more important to get these deals done as quickly as possible if Bale is off. If we end up like last season, replacing two world class players in VdV and Modric with Dempsey and Dembele, I fear the worst. Bale isn't replaceable with just one player, we need an overall squad upgrade unless we want to field a weaker side come the close of the window. 85-100 will give us that squad upgrade (on paper, gelling etc is hard to foresee). We will, I believe, sign players who will score the goals Gareth scored last season, but he is so much more than the goals he scored.

While the prospect of Bale leaving is scary, I think we need to realize that we really can't keep a hold of him much longer. RM have done very well tapping him up, even though it's dirty as a hobo's undies, they know what they are doing in that aspect.

would be an odd move for him. No CL and no getting away from English press. This would certainly split opinion

Agree. The motivation of the player is huge. Interesting part about Soldado.

he signed for RM aged 14 and eventually made it to the first team scoring on his debut. But Madrid had little time for nurturing young talent and Soldado, like Alvaro Negredo and Juan Mata after him, was discarded. The long road back first to Osasuna and then to Getafe where it would have been easy for his head to drop again. Getafe is just a half-hour drive from the Bernabeu.

But he did well enough to earn a move to Valencia, where he bettered the scoring rate of his predecessor David Villa and put himself back in contention for a place in the Spain squad for Euro 2012.

He scored a hat-trick in a friendly against Venezuela and appeared to have booked his place, but it was Manchester City's new summer signing Alvaro Negredo who went instead – Negredo judged to be better at holding the ball up and bringing team-mates into play.

"I went on holiday that summer, cheered the team on like any patriotic Spaniard and set myself the target of scoring more goals than I had the previous season because the goals I had scored had not been enough,"
