Porto have always been a selling club though? Not sure on the relationship the player would have with the chairman and how they would work it out. I can't remember the last Portuguese player to leave?

True but they also drive a very hard bargain and won't be pushed around.
Wasn't the last player to leave Meireles (or at least the last name player)

The payment that Wishkah is referring to could be an installment due on someone we have already purchased e.g. Rafa it doesn't necessarily have to be for a new player.

Twitter is bankrupt so we ditched the thread. Soz dude, you're going to have to post inane phrases on fb now ;-)

whats the point of closing it just a week before the end of the window, I found it interesting in a perverse way.
As long as it stayed on topic it served as an interesting read in between the long gaps of ITK

I'm no expert, but usually payments are returned if the receiving account details are incorrect. I don't know if this applies to Euro payments and businesses, but it could be something as simple as human error.
Well if we're sending millions i hope we send it to the right account!!!!

I guess A&C is getting his shitty stick out and wafting it towards a few people on the thread before opening a new one.

I think i'm a little confused. Why would we send payment if a fee hasn't been agreed??? Surely we would negotiate and agree a sum with the selling club before sending over payment.
maybe Levy's wheelbarrow's broken?

Or money due to another club on a player we've sold under a sell on clause. Could even be Zagreb's dough for Modric?

I would be well gutted if we did lose VDV, he is such a great character and I reckon a great motivator amongst the other players. He would be a bigger loss than Modric imo.

from Irish developers and backers. I used to work for a large Irish housing developer and we went to Paris for the day and Niall Quinn was there with the bosses talking footy. This was before he took over Sunderland. FWIW Niall is a really cool chap, down to earth and quite funny. Plus the dude has a decent voice, they were all singing Irish songs and he did a few solo songs
And his disco pants are the best.

I think I'm pleased about the Goat's info. I'd like to think we're in a position now where rather than looking to improve the 'squad', we're after players who could come into the first eleven and thus indirectly improve the squad by pushing current first teamers down the pecking order.

If we sign Moutinho, I will run through Tesco's naked, pointing at my old chap whilst dancing in front of old ladies shouting 'you get more than clubcard points with this sausage'. I don't care what the magistrate said the last time. I'll do it again.
I'm surprised your old chap hasn't fallen off yet, considering the abuse it gets. Not that that would stop it. I can see the bloody thing ending up living a wild and independent existence in a Sainsburys superstore, leaping out every now and again to stroke some poor old girl's hand as she reaches out for a packet of their Taste the Difference chipolatas, not that she'd notice any difference between 'em (size or quality). ;)

NOT INFO I HAVE RECEIVED FROM MY LOVER!!!!

BUT.....

I am being told that Moutinho has made it abundantly clear to Porto that he wishes to join Spurs. The guy who told me this has very good links to portugal and says he is almost certain that he will be a spurs player Sept 1st
Awesome.

Cheers Ryan. Moutinho wanting to play for Spurs is one thing. Levy financing the deal and trying to arrange this with Porto is something completely different. If we thought Levy was a tough customer, Pinto da Costa is the UFC veteran.

I'm actually rather excited by all these proposed changes. Yes, I'll miss vdv and I'd like him to stay but if the team needs such sacrifices to improve, then so be it.
It's almost as though I've finally become comfortable with that old adage that no player is bigger than the team - it's usually been used in a defensive capacity, like when we're selling a player that we don't want to but this time, it's finally our choice to sell some of our better players (like Daws, Hud etc) and we can choose our replacements. For the first time, it doesn't feel like our hand is being forced.
Exciting times ahead.

If that was the case the first one would not have been returned, would it??

Do Porto even need to sell another player now? I can see them giving Levy a taste of his own medicine and keeping Moutinho against his will.
