I know some here are annoyed over club messing up Doherty transfer and not happy with overall activity...spare of thought for Everton fans - their club sell a player for 40m , get a new manager and then not sign 1 player this window....
Yeah that's abysmal.

They had the entire World Cup to sack Frank and/or plan for the window too. They even timed the sacking so poorly it directly meant they lost out on Danjuma.

Very poor. Paratici should be sacked. Not enough that he's currently found guilty in Italy of cooking the books at Juve, he can't even do his job competently at Spurs. This type of issue is entirely his responsibility = structuring the squad and being the deal maker requires you to know the rules and constraints you have to work under.

You want to sack Paratici?

The mind truly boggles at the thought process.

Probably more on the multi-million bit. Her responsibility sure, but as per earlier most senior people don’t know fucking anything unless it’s put in big fuck off red letters in front of them! Maybe I need some new bosses. Ha.
She’s supposed to be the hands-on one. I doubt she even has any subordinates looking at the governance / regulations side.
And I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think if Doc had a good loan that we’d have got 2 million for him in the summer at the very least. Also, I assume we’ve had to pay him
Up something as he’s now lost the security of 1.5 year contract and is exposing himself to no income if he gets an injury before he finds a longer term contract.

“It’s not reasonable to expect top-level execs in a multi-£bn football business to familiarise themselves with the rules at the start of a transfer window” is a take so hot you could do yourself an injury on it

The point though mate is that you are a fan who takes a n interest, these people are literally paid a lot of money to know this shit.
Where does it say that the club "didn't know the rule"?

surely if they'd made a mistake they'd just not have gone ahead with the loan deal rather than somehow convincing Doherty to rip up his contract in the midst of a panic?

Occam's razor suggests all parties knew exactly what they were doing doesn't it?

At least there was no mention of someone random like Kim Kardashian when announcing this transfer. Phew.

Oh.

They have a January Transfer Window thread on their main forum. It’s 1610 pages long

Indeed. Paratici should be fired on the spot for the shambles of Doherty today.
It is literally his job to know the bloody rules.
Will be amazed if he lasts the week (both for this and the situation in Italy now window is over)
You haven't thought this through have you.

Why would they announce a loan first and then the termination of the contract if they knew exactly what they was doing. The simplest explanation is they realised after the fact because loaning then terminating within hours is not a normal thing to do.

Maybe I should think before writing this: … but you’d like to think when they discovered the issue they at least ran worst case scenario numbers right? Ie full payment of wages and no incoming fee vs agreeing to rip up.

Big assumption that we paid - because surely we just keep the asset and flog in summer.

Who knows.

Have you been in ANY player thread ever? They’re literally full of discussions like this. The ITK thread was clogged up with chat about how many CL players could be registered. I’m not making this stuff up.

Guys, it’s not your job to know it. Don’t worry. I’m just saying for a forum that can go into excruciating detail on shit like this, there was a lack of it.

Levy bad. Levy bald. Get bald man out. Etc.
Finally you’ve got there, you’ll feel much better now mate ?

Any chance Levy's contract can be mutually terminated as well
I dont think noise is about Doherty. Its about how badly we are run...for a club which is supposed to be well run club. All the haggling fee over Porro. we lost the loan fee & transfer fee on Doc...
What is the point of speculating, we really don’t know the ins and outs doubt if we will

I don’t get the complaints against the doherty move. He’s a player we’d struggle to sell and an opportunity came to get him off the wage book and we took it. Much better than a loan with no obligation in my eyes
