Well I can see why I might have missed the mark. I had no idea that New Zealand was named after an island in the Danish archipelago, in direct contradiction to the rather spartan scope of the Danish colonial presence outside of the North Atlantic.

Oh I know why.....because it's not. It's named Nieuw Zeeland after the western-most province of the Netherlands. The only link is old German for Land of the Sea.

Typically as an American I have to feel embarrassed about my country's terrible knowledge of the most rudimentary of political geography. But feeling a bit better today. This ITK is a great self-esteem boost.

Bit of fun trivia, NZ was originally called Staten Land just like Staten Island (just means State's Land and State's Island).

So PSG have made the Rabiot loan so difficult and arduous that we are going to exact our revenge by sending them Adebayor?

That's just mean of Levy.

You say not too big. But you're looking to sell Minimum 5 and possibly up to 9 if we had good offers.

That's a huge overhaul. I agree those players you've listed should be moved on but i wish we could shift at least 2-3 this window. Unfortunately it doesn't look that way...

It's just another big mess! Sell 7 in the summer, buy 5-7 and wait for them to settle (AGAIN). What other top club does this?
Two arguments here.

Firstly we are not a top club, but a club aspiring to be. Secondly with so few players that the manager seems to trust I for one would prefer to twist rather than stick

atlanta yid:
I just finished a three hour dinner with my friend and Charlie Lewis (son of Joe) got to say it was a very interesting meal to say the least
I really didn't know how Joe made all of his money but now I have a different prospective on a self made billionaire.
Charlie is an interesting man who has a genuine love of football and Tottenham all though he was an Arsenal fan as a child something I gave him shit for.
He is a third generation restauranteur and gave me good feedback on how to grow my business.
I tried to ask as many Spurs questions as possible without being pushy
The most I got was that DL knows what the coach wants and thinks that we can get the players but not until the summer. That means that the season is try and do the best we can with what we have and invest next year. I know it doesn't sound overly optimistic but the whole Spurs family believes in the coach and his philosophy.
The other really good part was how much Hugo loves London and the club
If I think of anything else I will add on to the post.
Sorry I can't pass on any more information

Of course they do, he's awesome. And Hugo will stay next season.

What about this Akindayini guy?

Missed this post mate, and haven't read through to see if it's been answered but nope he is nowhere near 1st team. He is barely good enough for u21s atm to the extent we have been playing Miller (CM/AM) and Lameiras (AM/W) as false 9s instead. He banged them in at u18s but that was because he was quite physically dominant and playing in a team that consisted of Miller, Winks, Onomah, KWP, Oduwa and to a lesser extent Sonupe. He is really struggling at u21 level

Fozz you talk as if you are an agent or have the background on how all these deals are brokered. This isn't really aimed at you as such but it's a good opportunity to add my few pence worth. I've been just reading this thread for the most this window.

How big a loss is actually acceptable? To shift players that don't want to go and are on high wages that other clubs probably aren't that interested in will probably cost serious money. Not just the reduction in fees commanded but probably the subsidising of wages elsewhere.

Maybe back to BSoDL but I have a kind of faith that the careful balancing of worth(value) vs the different scenarios have been presented and are being played out. Speculate to accumulate or speculate to be eliminated? It might not suit us as fans and I'm sure it probably doesn't suit the fans within the management team but this is business whether we like it or not.

For others (maybe not yourself) to tell the club how to run the business probably isn't right. We just do not have the facts spelt out to us. Unless we start a revolution we really don't have a say other than to vent on places like here I guess.

I don't claim to know how to run a football club or broker a deal over s player. Tho I do think football is a simple haw sometims made incredibly harder by some. In this case buying a shower shite for a hell of a lot of money. And buying players in areas we didn't need.

Are you saying we should just keep these players then because they cost us a lot of money? Even tho they are terribly under performing?! And their value will depreciate even more in time.

I just expect more outgoings this window. I'll be hugely disappointed if only Naughton and Lennon have gone. Build in the summer fine, when we have more chance of getting the players poch WANTS! This window we need to sell. Whatever cost. Simple!

But nobody is buying right now. This transfer window is a non-event.

I can picture Deadline Dat with Jim White getting excited about a total premier League spend under £40m while Natalie Sawyer just says fuck it, puts her feet up on the desk and sparks up a fag.

So she's got her legs up on the desk smoking? Hmmm is this some kind of sticky vicky style act?

There lies the problem, no one wants to buy our players at this time and they don't really want to leave. Damn that mr Levy paying them decent enough wages that attract players we want that now won't leave.

Who did we buy that we didn't need? Not sure who you're referring to as a shower of shite as none of the players in our squad are useless, some just don't suit the system or having replicated their form and the reason why we signed them.

I would guess you mean the following players:

Soldado (Marmite on this forum): Proven goal scorer in Spain that was widely seen as a good signing at the time but hasn't brought his shooting boots with him and for whatever reason hasn't justified his price tag. Wasn't a shower of shite when we bought him but so far it hasn't worked out. - Justified signing at the time and needed desperately.

Capoue: Flashes of a really good player last year under AVB in the early season until the injury against Arse. Didnt get picked under Tim and had some good early season form under Pochetino before tailing off. He hasn't really been near the squad since a "supposed" fall out siding with Kaboul and Ade. I watched a couple of youtubes of him in France and he seemed to play the ball forward accurately and quickly and liked a strong tackle. We haven't seen enough of him playing forwards quickly so I wouldn't mind if he left. Didn't cost a lot and could of been a good successor for Sandro, ultimately hasn't kicked on and Mason and Bentaleb have surpassed him. - Justified at the time and there was a role for him but time to move on and probably for a similar fee.

Kaboul: Been a really good servant for us over the course of his contract, had a career threatening injury that has stopped him in his tracks and seemed to have had a knock on effect to his previous limited concentration. Good signing second time round who is now expendable with the introduction of Fazio, Vertonghen and Dier who are all better. Caught up in this supposed bust up early in the season and Poch has now decided he isn't good enough. - Justified signing at the time and played a good amount of games for us. time to move on and we should recoup most of our transfer outlay.

Paulinho: Hailed as the next Frank Lampardinho esque player coming from Brazil as one of the best players in the Confed cup I was really excited by what looked like an all action goal scoring midfielder that we desperately needed. Looked to have drive an energy. First season in AVB;s team had a really good goal return and had some amazing games (Not enough though). Back end of last year just wasn't the same player and even in the world cup he looked lost. Really just hasn't worked out for whatever reason, but probably not suited to the system. Last night was actually not a bad performance from him in the deeper positions but ultimately he has flopped so badly since the world cup I wouldn't be surprised to see him go. - Great signing at the time that we were mostly excited about but hasn't worked out this year and will probably go to Italy or Brazil in the summer for a loss. Shame really

Chiriches: Promised so much but just can't cut out the brain farts. I think he will be out in the summer but still rated in Italy and probably won't cost us much to dispose of.

Good signings IMO:
Chadli - Wasn't great last year but showed flashes (Benfica away) of what he has produced this year. third highest scorer this season and lead the way early on bargain for the outlay.

Davies: Solid performer that took time to settle. A good foil for Danny Rose that has improved Rose's game 10x and gives us a more defensive option for tougher games. Two young quality players for Left back and both room to improve.

Vorm: Solid back up keeper with good distribution and a bargain price needed to replace Friedel before he retired and don't think we could of done better.

Stambouli: Took time to settle but has some real class and fits the system pretty well. Last night was a great performance from him and he has been doing that more often than not recently. Still needs to pick when to tackle and will be a risk with the cards but pleased to have him. Cheap signing and happy squad player that doesn't weaken us or cause a change in the system.

Fazio: Took time to settle but now seems composed and a great pairing with Jan. Reasonable price and think he will be hard to better in the short term.

Dier: Bargain price, young, filled in well early season at Right back and is now showing a lot of composure at CB. I think he has potential to grow with us as a club and reminds me of how I felt about Dawson when he first signed.

Lamela: Big price tag aside he clearly has quality, is improving steadily and has showed more than just signs of a good player. Last night I saw him doing a lot of communicating and gesturing with Walker and he really seems to get the system. He is still a young lad but I am excited of what he can achieve in the next 5 years with us.

Sorry for the long post but when you look at the situation things aren't as bad as they seem. Any player that didn't perform so far can still come good. As optimistic as it is I would back Soldado to bag more between now and the end of the season to any other overseas striker we could realistically sign in January and I also don't want to stunt Kanes progress.

Especially as if we would of added a couple of quality players in this window & went all out for a CL place we would be better placed to not only keep our top players but also to attract more quality players in the summer given that we'd have CL
yes but new players often need time to settle and we have enough of those as it is.
